It's that time of year when work is beginning or has already begun on getting your areas ready for the upcoming hunting season.
The accident I am about to describe happened yesterday to my friend/club president.
We were given access to bow hunt a piece of land that we used to camp at. Jeff went to the property ALONE to see what it looked like, since it has been 3 years since we left that property. He was scouting around on his four wheeler and decided to knock over a fence. Instead of knocking the fence down, the four wheeler decided it would climb the fence instead. This resulted in him being thrown off and landing on his shoulder. The good news is that the wheeler did not land on him, which obviously could have killed him. He did not come out of this unscathed however. He has a torn rotator cuff and may require surgery if the rehab program he was prescribed does not repair the damage.
He told me that his little voice said don't try and knock down that fence. We have all been there in one instance or another when we hear that voice. LISTEN TO THAT VOICE! I could have lost my friend because he didn't heed the warning.

Why in the world would Jeff try to run over a fence on a 4 wheeler? He must've been going kind of fast for it to happen this way.
Don't be a Jeff.
Don't be a Jeff.

Permission granted to do this on the interior of the property.

4 wheelers can be dangerous.I had 2 over about 20 years and had a couple of close calls.
That was with me being very cautious.
The kids we used to see in ICU post 4 wheeler accidents were terrible.I would never let my stepsons ride mine, they hated me for it.Now that they have kids they understand.

My uncle spent 5 weeks at university medical 3 years ago from a 4 wheeler accident. Was going dump the gut bucket. Bucket started to slide off the back rack. He reached back to grab it and inadvertently jerked the wheel hard. Landed on a stump. Lots of injuries. Almost in a body cast. Lucky to be alive. Ribs were floating, broke in two places, at the sternum and the spine. Tough old bastard I tell you what.

You sound like an old woman

All these 4-wheel stories are child's play compared to what I did with only 3 wheels back in the day. Lucky to survive the 80's!

Make sure to clip on your kill switch.

Don't ever use your 4 wheeler to jump 8 cheerleaders at the homecoming game. Use a dirt bike.
