I found some that's dirt cheap ($700/acre). I'll need to fly to get to it but most of remote Alaska is like that.

Is it water frontage? The land won't go down in value. I love the idea of buying 40 acres off the grid

$700/ acre isn't very cheap for something 5000 miles away. You can find land for under $1000/ acre in places like Tennessee, Kentucky, ms, etc. that is isolated and not useful for agriculture.

Are you at least buying waterfront and a decent chunk? I mean I wouldn't buy 3 acres of isolated woods 400 miles from no where just because I had $2100

Pretty certain you can find land for cheaper than that in the lower 48.

do you plan to live on it? I inherited some land in Florida. Its in a subdivision. I've had it for years. I've also been paying property taxes to Charlotte county for years. I can guarantee you I will NEVER get out of it what I've paid in taxes alone. So I'm inclined to think your "cheap land" is cheap for a reason, meaning it won't sell easily and you'll be stuck being responsible for something thats more of an aggravation than anything else.

Is it through the DNR? You'll have to get it surveyed if so. Where is it located?

Probably not for that price. Probably not on the road system either.

DNR has it land sales and you can find some defend deals in the Glennallen area. I bought some in Windy Hills just north of Denali.

Not really. Build a cabin and go on a fall moose hunt once a year. If its fly in, good chance its on or near a lake.

Get 5 acres on Lake Louise near Glennallen, order a cabin kit from Spenards in Anchorage, buy a beater truck and a couple 4 wheelers, store them near that Anchorage airport and make an annual moose hunting trip.

40 acres is a lot. You just need 5 or 10. There's so much remote public land in AK, all you need is a cabin site.
