why do you need to keep so many? Just go back out and catch them some more.

I may fish 8-10x/yr, when I do go I don’t want to be done by 7:30 because I caught a limit lowered for no practical reason. If trout are in such serious decline how is it that people are bringing in absurd catches any time the wind doesn’t blow 20mph? Y’all are just being stubborn and obstinate to not realize this is an issue bc of a few straight yrs of a very high river and people crying they couldn’t catch in bath tub water.

If you want to “do your part”, keep your 15 and proceed to virtue signal on Facebook that “you’re doing your part”.

no they arent, because its not the same people on both. the new people are allowed to get their daily limits too

he wasnt talking about the same group going twice in the same day

Think he may have been talking about the guide keeping his personal limit on both trips in the same day. That’d be illegal.

If the guide is running 2 trips a day with different customers, each customer on both trips is entitled to keep their limit. The guide just can’t keep any fish he catches on the afternoon trip if he already kept his personal limit on the morning trip

And you're catching multi person speck limits every time? Damn bruh, you know you could make a ton of money if you taught people how to do that huh?

I think honestly a lot of people don't fish enough to know how much has changed recently. That and a lot of people don't realize those facebook posts of great days are anomalies.

Not many people post their bad days.

Not opposing views, but the virtue signaling and the "well it doesn't impact me because I don't catch that much anyway" crowd... oh and the "you shouldn't freeze fish" crowd.
Only 29 this morning. frick this heat.

Idk, of the trips I went last summer I probably caught over a 15 fish limit on all but 1. Other people at camps around me and other friends that fish have been doing equally as well.

What area do you fish? I’d bet dollars to doughnuts that has some, if not all the reason for you not having success.

Yeah dude I'm just saying, maybe you ought to teach people. There's a whole industry of youtubers, bloggers, etc. who do pretty well showing people how to fish, how to find, and where to go.

I'd watch that youtube.

No, but if I’m going to allocate my weekend to fishing I don’t want to be done in 2hrs. And no I’m not going to starve, but when I have a good trip I keep what I’m going to eat fresh and give the rest to family and friends. Should I go out, catch my 15 and play catch and release to a bunch more that will end up in the belly of a dolphin or shark?

Is that conserving?

No thanks! I already work more than I care to, and have nothing to prove to anyone. It’s really not rocket science if you pick your days and have somewhat of an idea of what you’re doing.

Not sure what your argument is here. That if the bag limit is dropped by 10 fish it takes away from your time on the water? Cause if you catching 15 keeper trout in 2 hours then shouldn't take you that much longer to catch 25. So don't think its making a big difference in time on the water. Also, how do you know they are going to end up in the belly of a dolphin or shark?

If I’m fishing with a guide and he’s catching fish after fish, and the clients aren’t, I’ll blacklist that guide with the swiftness, and make sure he’s knows at the time how unhappy I am. Most good guides only pick up a rod when I ask them to to help establish a pattern.

I have no problem with the changes on the face of things, but until we stop letting foreign owned commercial operations rape and pillage our resources with nothing in return, I’m not interested in the rope getting wrapped tighter around our necks.

I’d like to think most guides don’t do this. I’ll go on a charter maybe once every cpl yrs and I’ve never seen one do this. Then again myself and the party I fish with are experienced.

This….

I don’t see many anglers leaving trails of dead redfish breeder stock……

Let’s lower recreation anglers catch, but continue to allow the pogey boats to do their thing.

LOL

If 4 people are fishing, the difference between 60 and 100 could be a far jump.

Predators aren’t stupid and if they’re in the area and see dazed fish being thrown over the side they most certainly will hang around for an easy meal.

Yea you right that could be a big jump but I don't think people are consistently catching those numbers across the state and I'd imagine it's hard to set size and bag limits regionally for fishing. Also not every fish being thrown back is being eaten immediately if at all. The point is to give more trout the chance to spawn. If you lower the bag limit that percentage of chance goes up. That's basic statistics.
