Has anyone purchased a lifetime resident liscense lately? I don't see an option to purchase on the LDWF website

LDWF took the quick influx of cash with the $500 lifetime license but gave up decades of license revenue in return.

I guess I remember it wrong, or things changed, but when the lifetime license first came out I thought they were putting all the money generated from the sales in an investment account and were only going to spend the interest????

Need to jack up out of state licenses, seems thats what other states are doing.

IDK about other game but as far as deer go I'd imagine that a lot of out of state hunters would just quit hunting here if that were the case. I think we need to improve the hunting here before that happens. Maybe if we had fewer out of state guys coming in we'd get that improvement and still have the same amount of revenue off of license sales if they were higher but IDK, guess it could go both ways.

So it looks like the lifetime license is staying the same price and will still be available?

Am I reading that right?

On another note the state has done a poor job of managing the public lands, yes the departments is financially poor and LA people are trashy but they still have failed at grand scheme management.

Timber and water level management are two things that stand out to me.

There is also some of the higher quality WMAs that could be managed differently had have additional funds generated from them.

I noticed this "$10.00 is dedicated to the La Duck Stamp Fund Increases the funds available for conservation of the breeding grounds for waterfowl".

Is this new money to the fund or has it always been $10?

Based on that chart our out of state fees look like some of the lowest out there. Im just saying all the big hunting states are jacking up out of state fees to keep people out. Why should we bring them all in down here when they don't want to reciprocate? Make them pay the same fish down here.

ETA:
LA Avg out of state price: $39
MS Avg out of state price: $91

No. Current lifetime hunt/fish combo is $200 for age 0-4, $300 for 5-13, $500 for 14 and up.

The new proposal is for adult lifetime to go up to $1000 and $500 for youth. Didn't see the mention on age cut off for youth license though.

I don't think that out of state hunters are the problem here. Mississippi can jack up their rates and folks will still flock in because the hunting is that good. I believe there is also a reciprocal agreement where MS residents pay the same for out of state licenses in LA that LA hunters pay for them in MS.

eta: People from Ville Platte are always the problem.

I’ve been trying for my son online now for 3 months. I thought doing it online would be less painful but it isn’t

Eta: The poster below you correctly stated you can do via email, that’s what I meant by online.

Need to hope Weyerhaeuser leaves for that to happen. At least in my opinion, you need more public hunting land, the private leases should be more affordable. Jackson/Bienville wma use to be 32,000 acres of public land, now there are neighborhoods coming up in it

They did and were building a significant balance until about 8 or so years ago when oil and natural gas production tanked on their properties. Remember, revenue isn't just about what the oil/ng is worth per unit, you have to find a company to suck it out the ground. That balance is now just about gone.

Also the main problem with Louisiana public lands are Louisianans. We trash up everything and fail to abide by the rules. Go to any public campground at a wma or boat ramp or lord forbid a public fishing/crabbing hole and its disgusting

I dont think so much either, I bet more people come here to fish. Im not just talking about Mississippi, their hunting isnt shite compared to Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, etc. Thats more what Im talking about. Im also not overly concerned if the out of state numbers drop. It'll give the locals more opportunities. Wyomings avg price is over $210 more than louisiana's out of state. You dont think our fishing is comparable to their hunting? Thats all Im saying, if the govt could make reciprocity deals like what you say we have with Mississippi then that would be cool. Otherwise, I think we are giving money away, even if they doubled the out of state fees the avg cost is less than Mississippi and still over $170 cheaper than wyomings out of state avg.

We are probably in the bottom 10 imo, our residents and politicians, and timber companies make sure of that

Who comes from out of state to hunt in Louisiana?

A few ducks hunters is all I could imagine. Certainly no deer or turkey hunters

Now fishing is a whole other ballgame

Cockaded.

And that’s why the hunting was good up there - they burned often for the peckers

Unlike most timberlands

I have purchased 3 lifetime licenses this year. 1 for me, 1 for my son, and 1 for my daughter. I took a picture of the completed application along with a picture of their BC and mine and my wife’s DL and emailed it to lifetime@wlf.la.gov. Within 2 weeks a worker called and took my CC info and I had licenses in hand within 10 days.
