Somewhat in what I think you are talking about, go look at the American Prarie Reserve

It’s a private organization that’s attempting to acquire a lot of land for public use

Maybe, but they would be nothing more than playgrounds for the rich. You know, what that moron Mike Lee thinks public lands are now...

Hahahaha. Senator Lee is one of the smartest people I know.

You can hide behind the “consevation” bs all you want. Take a tour of your average NWR/WMA. Do the same for a hunting club. And then ask yourself who is practicing better conservation.

Just because someone goes hunt public land doesn’t mean that they are poor, it also doesn’t mean the kill every button buck they see. I am not poor and I hunt public land all the time. I can also hunt one of the best private owned club in the spillway ( sugar land hunting club ) anytime I want. Oh and I’m tagged out this year on 3 bucks all over 200 lbs two 8’s and a 10 all public land. You must have voted for Hillary Clinton.

Oh yeah, your everyday, run-of-the-mill hunting club on a pine plantation is such great conservation.

"Conservation"? Yeah, you are probably one of Lee's cronies.

Wait. This thread was at least partially a troll job; but are you seriously going to argue that public land is better managed than private land?

We both know if I had a 5000 acre piece of land and I wanted to donate it to the state tomorrow as a WMA, it would stay in the same condition as the day I donated it (more or less). I’m not saying it’s the state’s fault, but it has no money.

Ehh. I’m not sure about completely abolishing WLF. But decreasing the cost of a license so I don’t have to support you button buck shooting freeloaders would be nice.

And here comes the real Mr. wonderful. May I ask how you came into this land? I’m willing to bet you weren’t the one who paid for it.

You said you don't hunt WMAs, so how is it that you understand the condition of them so well?

And I simply said it's bullshite to say a pine plantation is better conservation than a WMA or NWR.

Why doesn’t the government just take everyone’s hunting property and make it public? Then we can all enjoy unlimited access to everything! Sounds good to me.

Way to deflect. So you admit that WMAs (for the most part) are poorly managed because they are run by a broke government?

So if thats the extreme case, you are arguing for the complete opposite, another extreme case. Safe to say somewhere in the middle is ideal huh?

Of course I’m not saying the state should sell every piece of property that it owns. I’m not even sure that selling any WMAs would be a wise decision. But the few WMAs and NWRs I’ve been to are very poorly managed...as with most things the government runs.

Likewise I don’t think anyone is advocating we make all land public...

No, I'm just questioning how someone who claims to not hunt WMAs knows about the condition of them. I've hunted WMAs that aren't that great, and other ones that are really great hunting.

I'm just trying to establish your true level of knowledge here so I can determime whether you are just another waste of words or not.

No but it appears most wouldn’t even consider the thought of selling a WMA. Not even one or two. Seems odd to me that generally people feel the government is wholly inefficient at nearly everything it does. But somehow it is good at the land management/conservation business.

Strength in numbers. More low cost hunting opportunities gives up larger numbers of hunters and more power as a voice for conservation and wildlife.
