In south louisiana some places had it already in late September/early October, some happening now, and some happen into February

Need more specifics because that is a broad area

I hunt in Avoyelles Parish. Not a lot going on yet for pre-rut but need to get my vacation plans in before the rest.

I hunt northern St Landry Parish and part of the club is Avoyelles parish. Area 6

Our rut is usually 1st / 2nd week of January. January 6th is a full moon and I think if the weather is right that’ll get them going crazy. I’m not sure how many days you get to take off, but I believe a few days leading up to and few days after the full moon would be your best rut.

Have you hunted there before? When was it last year or years before?
Keep track of daylight pictures or when mature bucks were seen or killed and that’s the peak of rut for your area and it will be the same year to year regardless of weather or moon.

well in south west LA and south east LA the difference can be 3 months apart. same for the lands along miss river and atchafalaya river(much later). theory is southwest la plains deer runt MUCH earlier so that fawns are more mature for hurricanes. and deer along river later so that fawns drop after spring floods

Look up the rut calendar on the wlf.la.gov for whatever area you are hunting. It’s pretty exact year after year

A doe doesn’t doesn’t just decide to come into estrus when a cold front comes in. Whether it’s 90 degrees or 10 degrees during that period the doe is coming into estrus and the bucks will follow.

The weather may dictate how much movement is taking place which can increase hunting success but nevertheless the rut is going to happen regardless of weather

Why is this a question every yr. Rut is the same time every yr, reguardless of factors. Jesus

Because people don't understand the definition of "rut". They think it's this magical 3 day period that big bucks get up and move around.

I posted the same map a while back and was told it was 2014 so it may not be accurate.

Maybe, but the map shows mid-late January for my area. It's still pretty accurate because all my fawns still had spots till mid-October

There are several "rut" periods as some people will see scraping and bucks moving several different times during the season. The younger bucks start scraping really early, and you start to see the bachelor parties of bucks hanging out together around that time and as they start beating each other up. Does come into season at different times, and has nothing to do with the temperature and more to do with the moon phase and month. The older bucks will be pretty nocturnal till the actual time to start breeding.
