Bite turned on in our boat and the closest boat comes motoring over and tosses his anchor right where we were casting. I stared in disbelief, didn't say a word.... we continued casting into the spot, only to find it landing in his boat....one guy starts yelling at us
A friend told me a similar story. a-hole moved on top of them so my buddy casts and hits his outboard cover…..whoops, sorry….I’m new! Casts again, hits his cover…..sooo soooorry, I’m totally new!
a-hole gets the hint and leaves big mad.

Back in the early 80’s, before the blackened redfish craze and gill nets were banned, I was fishing with a buddy near Pointe au Chene.
We had trolling motored up in to a small bay through a cut and you could see the redfish and trout just boiling in the water. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that inshore.
Anyway, we’re in there catching either a redfish or a trout on EVERY single cast. Just one of those special moments that happens once or twice in a lifetime.
So…..of course one of the locals sees us catching fish on every cast, motors over, and strings a gill net across the entry/exit cut, leaving us about 8 feet to get out.
He then started revving his engine to stampede the fish into his net.
My buddy and I started bitching up a storm until the fricker picked up a rifle and showed it to us.
I think it probably would have gone sideways if we would have had a firearm on board.
We did report the jerk to the sheriffs office when we got back to the landing, but never heard a peep.

Share the water man. There’s enough fish for us all to catch. Louisiana is the only place I’ve ever experienced the whining of people fishing near others. It’s a public resource and people can use as they see fit, whether you like it or not.
If it were that big of a deal to you, why did you not just ask the guys to move instead of belly aching about it on a public forum.

I'm your 1st down vote.
I get the spirit of your post, but no reason to set up on top of someone fishing. Why can't they find somewhere else to fish?

Why do you think that you can’t share a spot with others? It is a public resource.

If anyone knows me, I am not shy. Believe you me, I threw up my hands, waved them off, then I asked, then commanded, and finally then started being a an a-hole.

If a boat of kids were to approach quietly, I'd wave them in and tell them where to set up.
You are a soy bitch for not reading the room.

If you thought you were in the right, you wouldn’t resort to name calling, that’s very childish. Grow a sack and share the water man, life’s too short to act like a child for no reason.

Well, we found the guy that puts his anchor in the back of other people’s boat.

I think I've adequately explained my reason. A man speaks up. A child would just let it happen.
And blow me. You are weak AF.

Why are you acting like such a child, you’ve expressed your point, I expressed mine disagreeing with you, you clearly don’t like it, so you’re resorting the insults and vulgarity. I hope for your sake you are younger than 25 years old, because if not, it’s pretty sad.

Gotta be bigger than 5'9" 160 lbs to intimidate anyone on the water

Nah, I can tell you from experience that offering to put a couple of waterline holes in a charter dickhead's hull will back them off. I'm a little bit bigger than that but I think all he saw was the rifle, not my height.

You sound intelligent.
He was the one using a 50' boat to attempt to intimidate, I just wanted him to stop. He stopped.

These guys out here thinking they own the water, probably think they own the fish in the water too.

That escalated quickly. Did this thread get moved to the OT?
Common decency says don't move into the casting distance of another boat when inshore fishing. Sharing the water doesn't mean getting in the middle of where someone is casting. That's just being a jerk. Even in Grand Isle where 99% of fishing is community holes, most people are respectful. The jerks ruin it for everyone else.

Smart. Committing a felony because someone is fishing “too close” to you at “your” spot on a public waterway. Pretty embarrassing excuse for a sportsman you are.
