Took my son to Sabine Lake a few weeks ago. Catching some trout on top waters drifting on the edge of Lighthouse Cove. 4- 6 ft of water. Had another guy pull up with his 10 year old son. They pull up about 25 yards from me down current and he proceeds to throw his anchor and chain as high and as far as he could.

Now his son is learning how to be a complete idiot. Good grief... it's bad enough that he was going to anchor directly in my path. But with the current and outgoing tide just pull up and ease the anchor in quietly. Give it some rope and shut the motor off.

I think people aren't impolite. They just don't know. No one with any sense taught them.

I was in Big Lake one day on the channel and right at 9 mile cut there was a guy using live bait at the cut and catching some fish. He was having a good time hooping and hollering I guess he was videoing himself or something There were 4 or 5 boats within hearing distance of him and we were all watching him. A 24’ Triton with 6 people on it trolls
Over there and he obviously told them it was cool for them to come fish. They troll right where he was fishing and dude in the Triton gets on the front does the Olympic anchor toss and starts castnetting for bait right where the dude was fishing! Of course not another fish was caught. It was funny as hell

Another time I was on a set of birds and this rickety aluminum boat was passing by and looking and I waved them on to come fish. It was a couple of lesbians and they get about 20 yards from
Me, fumble around with the anchor banging on aluminum and then sling it as far as they can. Then they pull
Out one of those big arse zebcos with a three way swivel, a big arse pyramid weight, steel leader, and a big arse dead shrimp and sling it right on top of the birds. Would have killed a bird had it hit one. That splash from the weight scared off everything for two miles. It was pretty funny

Same thing happened to me at Curly Hallman's last game vs. Bama. That was my only time booing LSU in Tiger Stadium. It was really just booing Hallman, when losing 21-0 ,with 20 seconds left in the 1st half., LSU didn't run a play.

Two couples, who were Bama fans we right in from of us, on the front row of our section. One guy kept talking sh*t loudly, and he kept turning around looking at me.. I reached my boiling point, looked him in the eye and said, "You must not remember where you are."

He didn't say anything, but his GF and the other guy talked to him. Then they left like they were headed to the concession stand, but they never came back. Don't know where they watched the 2nd half.

I often have to remind myself of Hanlon's Razor:

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity

People are dumb. So often we get upset assuming that our neighbor has ill intent when in reality theyre just clueless.

This times a thousand. I spend a lot of time on the same stretch of bay and have gotten to know most of the boats/fishermen in the area. Some really good people who will give you the shirt off their back but will also absolutely without batting an eye frick up a drift in a heartbeat. I really do believe 90% of the boats/people who potlick/cut off a drift just do not know any better.

My group of guy friends took a trip to Sabine this weekend. We had our boats in the same spot as you buddy fishing about 70 yards apart. We’re absolutely crushing the trout in between us. A 16ft jon boat with 3 dudes come cruising in right between us, on top of the school of trout, and tosses his anchor overboard. We proceeded to bounce top waters off the side of that boat until they left.

I’ve seen some absolute morons on the water, but that took first prize. Hell, I even have this pic hanging in my office

My buddy had one run up on him at a wreck 30 miles offshore Saturday, didn’t even look at his GPS or Fishfinder, just made a beeline for his boat and dropped his trolling motor just before he tee boned him. They could have handed a beer between the two boats.

I try my damnedness to make my sons consider how their actions impact others. Whether in church, driving or outdoor activities. It may not matter to you, but it may matter to them. Put your personal wants aside and do what is expected

I was about 25 miles offshore ofFt. Morgan Sunday, spot locked on a wreck. Not another boat in sight for 10 miles. I notice a big arse sporty charter out of OBA coming in from offshore but didn't pay him much attention until he changed his course to buzz me (23' bay boat). I told everyone to hold on a his 5' rollers came through, then right after passing us he corrected course back to the NE to head to Perdido Pass. I know the boat and Captain, maybe one day our paths will cross at the dock.

Reminds me of the time Barbera did that shite to me in Grand Isle. When I started bitching he realized who I was and told me to get in the boat. Told him if he backed up for 10 mins, I could finish my limit and he could have my spot.

Dude, I had no idea that happened. Holy cow I need details! All I ever knew was the AHole he turned into whenever he dealt with the shrimp soakers in “his spots”.
