Anything special I need to know about the marina? Saturday will be my first time launching out of there. I plan on trying for snapper for the first time any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Last time i was there, the marina didn't have much in the way of convenience store type stuff like snacks and cigs. that may have changed.

also, watch out for the loop when you go after Snapper

It is a huge Natural gas loading facility in open water. It is largely under water, so you will not see it. If you breach the security zone, you will be approached by a very fast boat with a .50 cal machine gun on the front.

Make sure your GPS map is up to date so that you stay out of the restricted zone. Do your research.

They'll be catering to homosexuals this weekend. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

No wake until you get past the Chouest house boat then you can hammer down if you have outboards. Dont get far right when you come out of marina to the house boat. Its shallow over there. Ice is over $4 a bag. Cheaper to get it at the ice shed at Rouses in GM if you are driving in. Or stop at Griffins and I think 100# is $10 or something. Also sardines and other bait is cheaper on that side of the bridge. The tackle at marina is fairly reasonable. I am down here tonight and Catholic High Rodeo is going on so expect a crowd. Already a lot of vehicles down there

I thought LOOP handled foreign and domestic crude transfers not natural gas. I have been run out of there before, that boat is fast

How early is early? I’ll be heading out there tomorrow too for the first time (from the marina). I usually stay at a camp nearby with a private launch. I was thinking of launching at 5:30ish to beat any charters.

Also with the private launch, I see you have to go under 3090. Is it a low bridge? I have a 26” hydra-sports with a t-top.
