Planned fishing trip on Erie this weekend
Last minute planning, buddy called me up and has a charter booked for Lake Erie for Sunday and needed one more person, quick little groveling and pouting to the wife and am all set. Walleye and steelhead are the target fish, and prefer a few more steelhead than walleye for the grill.

I've always thought Walleye was the best tasting fresh water fish in North America.

Salmon and trout are cat food compared to walleye (fighting words and all that).

Walleye are good but fight like you snagged a thrown out wet rag

You fishing out of Port Clinton? Our guide cancelled our first day due to wind concerns which is no joke on Erie. After a 9 hour drive of course we protested, but he stood his ground. After leaving the marina and seeing the lake action from a point, he sure as hell made the right call.

From Port Clinton straight across the water to Windsor Canada is about 25-30 miles and water depth is no more than 25-30' deep.

Are you in LA? That's one heck of a drive.

I'd do it in a heartbeat, never been fishing on the great lakes

That's where we went out of. Fished the ledges that were 18ft dropping off to 30. Did well. Trying to find pics

Unfortunately we caught more drum than walleye on that trip. Seeing two large capsized sail boats was something else.

Walleye over steelhead for sure.

Walleye (or in Ont - pickerel) >>> salmon/steelhead

Looking at wind finder on Ont side, Saturday is doable, Sunday is 25 kt winds … nope nope nope

5 of us caught 18 pickerel ;) last a week back just N of Buffalo in cdn water. As said earlier they fight like shiite but are tasty

Have you ever eaten the belly from a flathead catfish?
