Pee Row. Only way to say it.

Posted on 11/10/14 at 6:09 pm to Bama and Beer
it's become popular to say pe row because there are now more people that don't know, than those left who do know.

to be fair though, i say rawg like others have said, and that isn't precise either. it's supposed to have the long o sound, and in the spirit of the way french speak, probably had the little "eh" at the end. it's probably the long o sound, with the less distinguished g sound that probably caused it to become popular to not pronounce the g. But again, gue is never silent-that's the key

Pee row. I've been in north LA all my life and have never heard of a Pee Rog.
That's just weird.

Nahhh
I still maintain that pawpaw speaks fluent Cajun French and says peerow. I've never heard someone who spoke French say peerawg.

I just consulted a fluent Cajun French speaker, my mother. She said it is pronounced "pee raw"

I blame Hank Jr.
if he hadn't tried to make it rhyme with gumbo all yall would say PeeRawg correctly.

What part of the French dictionary don't you northerners understand? Just stick with canoe thingy and you'll be closer to right.

If downshift says it, on any outdoor topic, you can count on the opposite being correct.
