Yeah it’s not great weather but I’ll be down until Tuesday. Was down for 6 days over Thanksgiving and bucks were chasing and fighting some. I will be back December 26th to January 2nd and then back for a few days mid January to finish out general season.

I’m thinking the rut must have really kicked off right after we left Saturday after Thanksgiving.

It was foggy in the valley when we were down there, made the Nilgai tough.

I saw 6 bulls as soon as we drove to the blind and they were running in front of the jeep down the Sendero.

Twice a javi was spared because a target buck slipped out. I want a javi skull bad

Maybe next year, wife already is giving me grief and I still have three trips left including Sonora.

Man, stalking javi with a bow is one of the funnest things ever. That bark/snort when the broadhead hits home always makes me giggle.

Not a trophy....but he's my trophy. Eights pointers are the best.

I try to target the biggest best bucks out there but when something gets you going, it's a trophy

Stop with the conditional statements

I'm curious what that 8 scored? I sure miss south texas. We lost the place we bow hunted for 25 years. Been watching squirrels in east Texas river bottom the last 2 years.

This is going off memory but I’ve got a score sheet in him somewhere and I think he went 149 and some change.

That's a stud for sure. I figured he was pushing 150. I'm no good at the scoring system, but I can usually guess within 5 or so inches. I never had to know how to score. Our crew of 5 guys spent 25 years shooting does and target culls for a rancher with 7000 acres. Did it all with our bows. Never shot a buck that we didn't have a picture of, so no mistakes. It was cheap meat hunting and it was a blast. I've lost count of how many deer we killed, but it was a lot. Can't beat south texas for bow hunting. That is a target rich environment.

He was old according to teeth. He was scarred up on his neck and body and his ear was split. He was an ole' man. When he was taken, the top flap of his ear was permanently flopped down. My taxidermist made it stand up.
