Who would y’all recommend for a fishing trip in Panama City? Will be there at the end of May.

Do your research. Been on a couple party boat type trips that are geared for Rand and Nancy from Des Moines

You want inshore or offshore? Have taken some inshore trips there and one well, but it has been a while so I don't have a name for you. Should be able to research online.

Whoever the guy is that launches from the beach in Grayton. I think he is an LSU alum. I have heard nothing but great things out of that outfit. I don't know if Florida follows the same offshore dates as Texas but typically Snapper opens the first week of June.

If you’re up to driving over to Destin Harbor, go with Capt Brant Kelly (think his new boat is called the Relentless). Guaranteed a damn good time and bunch of fish. Been with him on a few trips and his old boat (Lady K). Never disappointed.

Shallow Water Expeditions

Shallow Water Expeditions have excellent guides. Kyle Pitts and David Mangum are top notch professionals and get the job done every trip.

Captain Nathan Chennaux LINK

Offshore: Capt Mike Sullivan LINK

If I were you I'd book early as these guys are quite popular.

What type of fishing are you trying to do? I live here. Pitts is a good suggestion for inshore. He fly fishes too

Team aquatic charters for offshore. Harris Scruggs is who you want

I don’t really care what kind of fishing we do. I would rather fish than sit on the beach.

Agreed, Kyle Pitts knows the summer tarpon game and year round West Bay redfish like no other. He will put you on fish and is an absolute blast to be around.

If you want 1 day of fill the coolers style bottom fishing, then do a 10-12 hour offshore trip to get an AJ, red & scamp groupers, beeliners & mangrove snapper and the other porgy type panfish. You might get limits early and then try for kings or cobia too.
Gag grouper are closed until June and red snapper season is TBD.

If you want to go fishing more for fun, do an inshore trip or 2 for the same price as a full day offshore. Trout, sheepshead, redfish, flounder, pompano and maybe some Spanish or kings with a possibility of a tarpon or cobia too.

Inshore guides tend to have more options for how you want to fish. You can throw lures for trout & reds, drown shrimp, jig for pompano, troll nearshore for mackerel, or cruise the beach for tarpon.
Offshore is going to be drop a bait & reel up a fish 95% of the time. Nothing wrong with this but it can be a workout & sometimes a little boring.

As 1 person going alone, if I could split up the cost of offshore on a 6 person charter I'd do that. If it's paying for the whole charter I'd be doing 2, 4-6 hour inshore trips for the same price. Inshore can normally do morning or afternoon trips so you can fish the better tide that day.
