So, finally had hogs invade my spot. They're THICK now. I would love to kill some, but they only seem to come out at night. Is there any way to either 1) make them come out during the day, or 2) put out some feed that they won't eat?

I can't use a timed feeder and can't hunt at night where I am hunting. Building a trap is a possibility, I guess, but I am not familiar with how to do it. Thanks.

When BP gets here get him to give you his hog trap building instructions. The man is a hog killing machine.

Make sure any trap you build or use has an opening in the top.

Stop feeding them and they'll move off and or/spend more time on their feet looking for a meal.

Good luck! have the samd problem in St. Francisville. have tried some trapping and now that it is legal to hut them at night outside of deer season we have had some success but as often as they breed, hard to keep up with them. Try the gravity feeders if you still want to feed for deer - may help some as keeps the majority off of the ground. Just be ready to shoot as many as you can, they typically dont hang around much so when a shot opp presents get after it! Shot two with my bow this weekend - messed up my der hunt a bit but we need to get rid of as many as we can.

Keep us posted!

What about something like this mounted on a tree with the opening 24-30" off the ground so the deer can get to it but the hogs can't?

coco, have to get the feeders up like you suggested.

or you have to put hog panel around your feeders. a 20-30 ft diameter coral enclosure with panels 27" high will keep the hogs out and let the deer jump in to feed.

for trap instructions, I will email.

In LA your traps have to accommodate a bear climbing out. so boxes like those above are not legal.

It's a little close to deer season but dogs are the only answer. They'll get wise to the traps pretty quick. Dogs will cause them to move to your neighbors property for a little while.
