Expensive and has a lot of stuff for chasing rainbows in Montana streams but not so much for chasing specks and reds in Dulac. You can get "outfitted" for your next Alaskan adventure but not to head "to 'da camp".

I love the place. I have a battenkill mid-arbor reel for my 8 wt for reds and specks. They sell kirk's spoon fly, awesome for reds. Also poppers and clousers for reds and trout.

Good store, I shop their online store regularly.
It might be expensive, but it's quality stuff.

crazy expensive and they don't carry anything I would use in this part of the world. As someone said before, I don't see how they stay open around here.

If you fly fish for reds, specks, bass, or bream then it's for you.

I guess you're right, its just not for me. Maybe i underestimated how popular those things are around here.

Most flyfishers I know tie their own flies. A lot build their own rods, and some even machine their own reels and build their own boats. About the only thing they need to buy from a store is fancy clothes, fly tying materials and fly lines.

i went in once. it struck me as the kind of place a rich, bored person would drop some serious money if they got on a trout fishing "kick" and didn't know any better.
not exactly a good fit for south La.
ETA. it did look like quality equipment though FWIW

Orvis is more of a clothiers now than anything else, fit for middle aged men and yuppie outdoorsie wannabes.
Should be doing bang up business since BR is full of both of those demographics.
