I always think they look strange but we are seeing more and more of them in Texas.

Fished a Thursday Nighter (local Bass Tournament) last week and two dudes in a center console whooped everyone

And yet almost all you see in the marshes and on the bays for saltwater are almost all center consoles.

Why not on a lake?

I fish Lake Texoma in a 24' bay boat with t top. The only downside is the t top catches some wind.
I see more center consoles on Texoma than I do bass boats.

I feel way more comfortable running boat lanes looking for stumps/floaters in my bay boat than sitting down in a bass boat. Cant see shite

If you've ever been in Toledo Bend when the wind kicks up, you bet your azz you'd wish you were in a center console bay boat!

I did it for a while when the late wife wanted more of a family experience. It wasn't bad. Now that I am back in a bass boat, I am much more happy.

I like it when the wind kicks up and I can really flex on em.

Rods and VHF antenna and shite sticking up everywhere, gaff in the top rod holder for maximum effect.

I followed some poor dude in a little aluminum boat back in one day who we were pretty sure was going to lose his boat before he made it in. Dude had that Lil tiller 25 mercury sucking air and still managed to drink a beer while he was at it

I'm not sure why they aren't more prevalent for big lake fishing. It does suck for fishing under trees but nobody really does that on those big lakes anyway.

Nothing wrong with it, glitter boats are made to go fast and a big tall console or top catches wind. If you aren’t racing back to a tournament weigh in, who gives a shite.

Running while standing up will save your back. Especially if you already got some kind of injury.

My opinion was always get the boat that fits what/how you fish most of the time. Deal with it's limitations the other times. bay boat is what fits me the most, although now all, so i pulled tubes, skiers and did lake and river cruises regularly.

Have both. Can’t really fish in timber lakes in bay boat. I’m dodging stumps entire time in bend when water is below 170. But yes the ride back would be much improved on many a days.

The reason I still only have a jonboat is because my philosophy is to make friends with someone with a glitter boar, another with a T-top bay boat and make more friends with people who have offshore boats. The higher gas prices are, the easier it is to make friends.

Sure you can. Its less optimal than a bass boat, but I do it in a 24' bay boat a whole lot.

I sold my 23ft bay boat to a guy planning to use it for bass fishing in Texas. Change of pace going from the Gulf of whatever it is today to some lake in Texas.

Mine has gone from toting in snapper from 32 miles out to sac fishing lake fork in a 6 day span before.

A big bay boat is a most versatile thing. A man can do a whole whole whole lot in louisiana with a big bay boat and a bateau.

Yep, I have done the same in my 22 ft bay boat. I have been wanting to move up to a 24 footer but I am worried it will really limit my freshwater ability. I saltwater fish 80% of the time but also like to fish for sacalait, catfish, and run noodles.

ETA: Fun story, I launched on the north end of Lake Verret one day for a catfish trip. It was a very windy day. I wasn’t concerned as that’s really what a bay boat is designed to run in. Anyway I am cruising slow and a bass boat flies by me headed towards the lake at high speed. My buddies began taking about how fast he was going. I chuckled and told them to just wait and we would be seeing him again very soon. Sure enough once we got to the lake it was far too rough for any small boats and not a pleasant crossing for a bass boat. I just kept my steady slow bay boat cruise and went steaming right past him as he was really struggling and was barely able to keep his boat on plane by the looks of it. My two friends became big believers that day.

About 50% if my trips are there. Big bay boat is ultra nice in that lake since it gets kinda snotty in a hurry. A little wind will cut the boat traffic wayyyyyyyy down around there.
