Read this article about solvent traps this am:

Zerohedge

quote:

Before the ATF raided Diversified Machine, there was no guidance from the ATF on solvent traps; they were completely legal to own. Regardless, in Jan. 2022, the ATF sent out a letter to many of those who had purchased these solvent traps accusing them of attempting to acquire suppressor parts.

quote:

There have been rumors that the ATF is planning to announce new rules related to solvent traps and suppressor home builds. Including proposing a rule change to make the hollow tube itself a silencer. This change would completely outlaw solvent traps and put companies selling them out of business.

I started the process to get my 3 suppressors last April. This doesn't sound encouraging if you hit the one year mark.

So mine was approved last week and I emailed to see when it would ship. This is their response:

Good afternoon sir not yet, from the time of approval to the time it shipps its within 30 days.

I can't recommend Silencer Central. I will more than likely hit 15 months before I see it.

Silencer Central.

They are a scam. Their cans suck too. Just go to your local powered by silencershop dealer in the future. The sending to your home thing is a stupid selling point imo.

Just curious. What is your reason for needing a suppressor so bad ? Not judging

The fact that you had to type “not judging” tells me you are judging.

It’s like when someone says “I’m pro-2nd amendment, but…”

I don’t know you but I can assure you unless you’re someone in the military, law enforcement etc. I have more reason and means to shoot on a daily basis than many. As well as I can assure you I have more guns than 99% of ppl on here. I just wonder sometimes why some people “have to have a suppressor” or “have to have an a-r”. I have both. It was just a question.

The fact that you asked this makes me doubt you have a can. I may be wrong. People who have them know how useful they are. If you had one, you probably wouldn't ask that. For me, it just makes shooting more pleasant. I almost never shoot without them anymore.

“Know how useful” is what I question. I do have multiple of both but I also know how many people that don’t have them that are as happy as can be. I do all my actual hunting without either. What are you hunting with a suppressor that it actually helps you ? I farm and use mine shooting hogs to possibly kill an extra or two. I never meant to start any trouble I was just legitimately asking what other people needed them for.

Not using ear pro, especially helps if you are communicating with someone. I take first time hunters deer hunting every season and it makes it far more pleasant.

This ignorant statement tells me you have zero clue that gun owners in Europe have no restrictions on suppressors, it is over the counter and sometimes required. Only in America, where it is our God-given right to own firearms, do we have to jump through hoops to put a suppressor on.

notice you are the only person in here that feels the need brag about your access/need to shoot and the number of guns you own.

Suppressors are in the "nice to have" category. Recoil and noise can be mitigated without them.

Muy LR 308 recoil is extremely tame, noise is not bad.

They make a mountain sized 300 WM a lot more fun to shot, even if only one shot. I also had a family member miss a 350 yard shot on an elk with my rifle. The elk just stood there confused and gave him time to put a second shot on target.

For big magnums, I certainly think they're more needed than wanted if you can swing it.

I wouldn't put one on a 223 unless its a very short barrel.

Dumb question.

Why would you not put one on a .223?

For me, I want the recoil reduction of a brake but even with ear protection I feel like a brake rattles my skull. It seems the only option to reduce recoil and not get a brake is to get a suppressor.

People make these out like you can sling bullets in complete silence. Nobody is sneaking around with a suppressor and a 223 or really any super sonic bullet.
