This...that's my biggest compliment of my Slayer 14.5 and my biggest complaint of practically any other kayak, my Cuda 14 included. I have zero use for any in-hull storage, and I'd think most kayak fisherman don't either.
Example, why the hell did Jackson make that HUGE rear dry storage that you can't even access while on the water on the Coosa FD? They should have put a small access panel and made that one big open tankwell.
Another complaint at Jackson....stop with the cutesy shite. Instead of charging $2999 for the Coosa FD how about you leave all the accessories off that I won't be using and let me rig it how I see fit and instead charge $2699? I don't need your tumbler cup, a Line Cutterz, a hydration bladder, fish grips, plano boxes, etc.

Couldn't agree more. Just give me some gear tracks and I'm good. That's why I like the Frontier 12 and Pursuit. Just not sold on their pedal drive.

I think their drive system has the potential to be exactly what I'm looking for, hands free reverse, adjustable pitch, the ability to hit shite and not give a frick. Their hull designs haven't been exactly what I'm looking for though, basically I want the FD drive on a Slayer-like layout.

Open layout and stability is what sold me on the NuCanoe. If I didn't have a trolling motor, I'd give their pedal drive a shot but now I'm spoiled with my motor. I cant reiterate how stable the Frontier is.

This thread is going to harm my bank account. I have been looking for my first Kayak for a few months. I have been real intrigued by nucanoe and now they are going to release this flint.
It seems to check a lot of what I'm looking for. Open layout, easily customizable, stable, and able to be car topped. I'm really digging that 70lbs.
I think I'm down to deciding between the pursuit, frontier, and the flint. I know the the pursuit and frontier have a higher price point then the flint.
I looked at the other entry level type boats and just have not loved them. (Perception, catch 120, ascend, etc). Seems like the flint blows those away.
Is January the realease date for the flint? I'm going to have a hard time waiting that long, but I may just have to get this boat.

I have a frontier 12. I'm 6'4 240-ish. I can stand up, no problem. It's crazy stable. a trolling motor would be a good idea,but it paddles easy. Just make sure weight is properly distributed front to back.Nose up in the wind is tough.

Jackson Coosa FD. Almost the perfect kayak, but I want a bigger and wider rear tankwell and no rear storage. And needs to be a little lighter.

The Feel Free Dorado looks badass. A little over engineered for my taste, but really cool. I personally wouldn't buy a kayak that Pack and Paddle doesn't stock however. But still cool nonetheless.
