That sucks. My Aunt used to live in Azalea Lakes and we'd go fish there a lot when we were kids. After I got my Kayak I went ride to only spot on the lake that is open and has a pier. I was considering launching there and trying it out, but they had signs all over the place that said "No Fishing" and "All Boats Must Have Homeowners Tag," etc.
I figured it isn't worth the trouble. My wife has a great Aunt that lives there. I might see if she can score me one of the boat tags for my kayak.
I'm glad I wasn't put in your situation. I may have shot someone.

Do ya now? Pretty solid. Was catching 10+ every time.
ETA: slick, I hear azalea is pretty damn good fishing. I felt like I handled the situation the best I could without physically harming anyone. I've encountered grumpy old men quite a few tines since I was a kid and have always promised myself that I would NEVER be like that. Some people just have shitty lives and want the world to know. Tine to move on and find a new honey hole for the yak. Hope everything is going well with yours.

Would you be so kind as to explain your position on trespassers?

Nope. Not even close. Azalea lakes?

Azalea Lakes is at the corner of Hoo Shoo Too and Old Jefferson. I wasn't implying that that is where you were at. They do have a nice lake there.
I think meauxjeaux may be thinking about Mallard Lakes. Super nice area. My cousins used to slaughter the bass and ducks back there in the 80s.

I would be in deep deep shite if I would have swung at the old bastard.
You might have been. Don't let his age fool you, that old man is a barroom brawler from way back and unless you are (a)a big dude; or (b) pretty badass yourself, he probably would have fricked you up.
I own a piece of property on one of those lakes (undeveloped), and I don't want random people floating their arses back in there, any more than I want people hunting on my lease I pay major $$$ for. What's next, the ponds back there starting to look like the University lakes, with people lining the banks sitting on buckets, parked on someone's property? Boats are not allowed in those lakes (per homeowner restrictions-I can show plenty of e-mails on this) and I pay through the nose for annual fees, road upkeep, etc., and I am apparently back there less than you were before he ran you out.
I am pretty liberal when it comes to public access, but you were in the wrong, as I have been when chased out of areas around Catfish Lake by hotheads carrying guns (didn't know the area was posted). That gate is there for a reason. Granted he could have handled his end better, but that's his personality, and he is zealous about protecting his (and our) investments.

ETA: yeah, that's the guy. If you live in the neighborhood I apologize. Regardless of how badass you claim the guy to be, his reactio was over the top.
Just don't tell him I started a rant about him on TD. K thanks.

bourg, I know the guy too. and from what I understand - recently has been a lot of vandalism and such and he as developer is under a lot of duress from homeowners and contractors to stop it.
also - huge liability as developer if a trespasser gets hurt -
all kidding aside - try apologizing -

It's over and I apologized. I understand the circumstances and would have left appropriately if approached in a respectful manner. Turns out my dad knows the guy. I didn't realize who he was at the time.
