He got in some altercation with a guy when he was fishing a pond/lake in his kayak. That's all we know.

It's not really a great story so spare me the cool story bro bullshite.
I'm not sharing location or names.

So I had been kayaking at a bad arse lake in BR and catching some really nice fish. The neighborhood is gated and full of mansions and quite a few huge empty lots between. I had gotten the gate code from a buddy who knows a homeowner. I would just pull up my car on the side of the road in front of an empty lot and drag the yak to the water. On this certain day it was hot as shite so i figured i would get closer so i pulled up on the lot closer to the water. Well, I had pulled my kayak to my jeep and was ready to throw it on top, when all of a sudden I see a truck driving towards me on this vacant lot. Driver (late 50's) and passenger (late 30s, early 40s)get out of the truck talking and start asking what I was doing. I explain that I was fishing and had been for a few days without any problems. After the older man tells me he is the property developer for the neighborhood, he says (paraphrased), "I know you don't live here so get the frick out or ill call the sheriff." He then tells me that not even the homeowners are allowed to have boats, just bank fish from their property. I told him that was BS because every house has at least a canoe or two. I was being rude and then he got in his truck and started to drive off. I say "have a nice day a-hole", he slams the brakes and both guys get out. Older man runs at my saying he's going to frick me up and grabs me by the neck. I moved my head and got loose proclaiming he fricked with the wrong person. So the guys leave in the truck and I load up and start heading out. I see the neighborhood sign with lot numbers, etc. and the office number. In my pissed state, I call the office (it was a Sunday) and left a nice voice mail saying ill whip your arse and a few more ridiculous things. As I get off the phone, the passenger in the truck gets off his tiller he's on now. I yell at him asking if he was the bitch that was with the old man. He starts threatening me and walks up to my passenger window and grabs my dry box out w/ my wallet out of the seat. I knock it out of his hands and floor it down the street. He rocks back and punches my rear glass as hard as he could and it sounded like he broke his hand.

So a day goes by and I hadn't heard back from the office so I figured it was over. A deputy sheriff calls me in the AM a couple days later and has great news for me. Seemed like a pretty cool guy and starts off by saying he doesn't have time for shite like this taking over his desk. Tells me the land developer and his buddy are pressing charges for
1. Assault (says I pushed him before he grabbed my neck. complete BS)

2. Trespassing (I guess I was)

3. Assault with a vehicle. (other fellow said I tried to run him over)

4. Leaving a threatening message.

The sheriff then tells me I screwed myself by calling them and leaving a message, reiterating that the guy recorded it and I won't stand a chance if presented in court.

I was shocked at all this and pretty worried being that I'm 23 and can't afford any of that. I explain how it all went down and he said he would have been pissed as well and probably done the same thing. He told me the guy is a huge hot head and said he would call him and try to talk him down. Waited anxiously for about 20 min. and received some news saying that he agreed we were both pissed and out of line and that he would let it go as long as he never sees me close to the neighborhood again.

:gaspingforair:
Soooo, my honey hole was compromised and am now looking for a PUBLIC place to catch some fish.

Spare me the stupid comments. Just thought it was ridiculous and needed to rant.

AND that he's no longer allowed at said lake, as a result.

We have no details, he mentioned it in passing twice. I'm ready to hear the story.

Damn son that was a long read. Losing your temper wasn't the best move but I can't say I wouldn't have done the same, especially after the guy basically assaulted you. Sucks about not being able to fish it anymore though

Granted, you were in the wrong, but the guy sounds like a mega douche. Could've approached the situation completely differently.

He was digging a deep hole to bury your trouble-making arse while the old timer went to fetch his pistol.

I know, but like someone said, I was PPPISSSED. Realized after the fact that it was a dumb move on my part. You just don't get out the car talking shite to someone. I had no idea what was going on. If they would have approached ME differently, I would have respectfully left without a problem.

ETA: The sheriff told me that they had a problem recently with some kids getting in the gate and spray painting the inside of house all red.
