from what i've gathered, an 8" barrel is the sweet spot for .300 blk.

maybe those that have one will give some insight.

Running a Thunder Chicken or other suppressor?

I want a HB but not sure I can’t justify the price if I can build one for around $1500

You can definitely build an AR in .300 blk and for way cheaper than $1500, but it won't be anywhere near as compact and light as the honey badger.

When you're looking, pay attention to the barrel twist. the faster the twist the better for stabilizing long, heavy, subsonic bullets.
The Honey Badger is a 1:5 twist. I think radian has a 1:5 but don't quote me on that.

I did the same. Very happy with mine. I have about $1700 in mine sans the Thermal. I run an SLR adj gas block. I rarely run it without the can. I have it tuned where it runs like a top with subs. I can’t recommend the MVB PDW stock enough. It’s not the cheapest but it’s bullet proof. I have them on 2 guns and never had an issue.

Funny this is posted. Have everything on order for a honey badger clone. AP clear receivers, faxon 1:5 7.5" barrel.

It uses a proprietary buffer. You can choose H1,2,3 when you order. Running a H3.

Looks sharp!

I just purchased my .30 cal can yesterday, hopefully don’t have to wait 5 months but who knows…

That said I need to either build or buy a 300 blackout pistol. Looking for some guidance as I’m not super familiar with this setup. Want it to shoot subsonic rounds suppressed. Thinking of just buying one built but if anyone has some experience piecing one together I’d love to hear it. Not going super high end, but don’t want bottom of the barrel either.

I built a super easy one last year (stamped so configured as a rifle).

I bought a dirt cheap LM8 complete upper from LMT a while ago and had been holding on to it and a stripped Radian lower (not so dirt cheap) so decided to finally put both to use. Those LMT uppers are great because the barrel installations/changes are so easy (I also have a full MARS L rifle).

Off top of my head

LM8 complete upper
7.75 inch LMT 300 bo barrel
Radian lower
Larue MBT-2S
Mostly LMT small parts, receiver extension, etc.
Can't remember which stock, it's either a short B5 or LWRC sopmod style
Sionics BCG

Pretty fun build and has run like a champ to date. Just got a Nomad 30 that will live on it most likely, so we'll see how much tweaking I've got to do for that.

I’ve found that good .223 ammo will outshoot 5.56 accuracy wise. May be a little lower velocity but the target won’t know the difference

you guys talking about .300 blk and honey badgers had me looking at building a clone. PSA has 2 PDW braced lowers for $300 and $320. you think these are worth it since it's basically price of the brace?

Maxim PDW Brace
SB Tactical PDW Brace

I also read online that SB makes the braces for Maxim... kinda cool I guess.

there's also this

My hand loads for Predator hunting (75gr bullets) are only going 2565fps but they’re very accurate in my gun.

I picked up a lower with the SBA3 brace along with a 8.5” 300 BO upper. Pretty good deal for $562 total. It’s going to be my truck gun. I will replace the CH with a Geisslle I had laying around, Rearden Plan B brake and a rise armament 140 flat trigger. The Holosun HE515 blem I picked up from Europtic.

I will have about 975 in it total once I’m done.

I got my sight, mags, ammo, might get a front grip (angled). I think I need a sling. What do y'all like?

Going next weekend to sight on and shoot for the first time.

Looks like we got options. 2 point or 1 point, is that just preference or the way to plan to use it.

Vickers Sling

221 sling
