Yeah it's pretty good for the price, especially at $450 like on AIM Surplus when it's in stock. They use Ballistic Advantage barrels and AO Precision BCGs. Still kinda new but they have a good reputation for QC so far since they don't want to pump rifles out as fast as possible like PSA.

Congrats on introducing another incredibly expensive hobby to your life (I see you already have watercrafts covered)

At least firearms hold their value fairly well...not that you should ever sell them. What did you end up getting? Can't really see the rolls

He got an LWRC DI MLOK. Fully ambi lower, fluted HBAR, and the gas key is actually part of the bolt carrier so it doesn't even need staking.

Thank you. You know more about than I do.

can y'all explain to me the point of an EOTech? i picked one up at the store yesterday and the reticle was fuzzy. i do have an astigmatism, but its in my left eye and i'm right eye dominant. i was looking at it with my left eye closed and it looked like the snowy image from an old TV set. really grainy.

then i went to pick up the Holosun 510c that was next to it. Solid/clear reticle. is the EOTech reticle setup by design?

Eotech are as battle-proven and solid of a close range optic that exists. They are also great under night vision, which is why the military loves them so much. They also have a huge eye box too, which many people like better than a traditional 22mm red dot.

EoTech's also use a totally different image technology than a traditional red dot, which some people love because the glass can basically get shot out and the image is still there. (true holographic image versus laser dot image.

EoTech's though are heavy and their battery life is terrible, but they are the ultimate Larp so people love them and anyone who used them in the military often use them on civilian rifles, too, especially for home defense.

As for the fuzziness, that's just you're astigmatism. Nothing you can really do about that. The Eotech uses a hologram and other red dots use just a singular laser image, so some companies can really get a high quality dot for people with bad eyes.

Uktimatkey, if you have real eye problems get a prism optic or an Lpvo that you can adjust to your eyes.

Speed. If it's fuzzy it's your eyes or your focus point is wrong.

They don't weigh any more (and maybe less?) than the mil Aimpoints, and less than a LPVO. No question a micro is the flyweight king if you're counting ounces. As for battery, by LED standards, yes. For an HD weapon changing a battery once a year is trivial. In the military batteries are changed constantly, well before it's needed, so I just don't see changing annually vs 3 or 5 years as a factor.

That's me. I'm just not as fast with an Aimpoint.

my astigmatism was closed. my good eye was seeing it fuzzy. but that's probably because i was focused on the reticle and not the wall i was pointing it at.

as far as it still working if the glass is broke, that's effing crazy.

My astigmatism makes any red dot look like a starburst, so I'm a prism supremacist at this point.

What .22 cans do y’all like? Leaning Q El Camino right now.

Put a Rugged Obsidian 45 in jail this morning. Would like to pick up two in 9 months at the same time so will likely order a .22 this evening as well.

I have this one and love it.
I have a Surefire Ryder 22. It has aluminum baffles and it sucks.

If I were buying another I’d buy another El Camino or the Thunderbeast.

When most red dots now last 30K-50K hours... Yes.

Most people keep their home defense red dots on all the time and change out batteries once every 2 years or so.

An Eotech would last 4 months if you did that.

Thunderbeast was the only other one I was considering. I love my thunder chicken so I’ll probably stick with Q on this on.me.

Yes, and most EoTech's don't last 2500 hours. More like 500-600, which is less than a month.

You don't much about red dot optics do you?

I'm going thunderbeast for my next rifle can, but I have a hard use saker already so lighter one is next.

Haven’t played with my gun toys in a while lately but decided after having gotten some house work behind us and getting an extra car in case one of ours shits the bed (both primaries have over 140k) I could use a little bit of my bonus money and splurge.

With the pistol brace crap going on my dad was wanting to disperse some guns he had built as pistols rather than fool with them so he gave one to me and my bro in law.

Mine was originally built as a 12” 300BO but I had little interest in that since I really would like to be able to shoot my guns for cheaper than the 300BO would run me especially when doing carbine courses.

I pulled the barrel and hand guard off and left those with him. (If anyone wants a 12” Wilson combat 300BO barrel I know where you can get one for a good deal).

What I inherited was a stag left handed upper, stag left handed bcg, stag lower with Wilson combat 3g trigger, ambi safety, ambi mag and bolt catch, magpul metal buis, radian raptor charging handle, standard buffer tube with I believe h2 buffer will have to check that.

To complete I bought a Wilson Combat 11.3” 5.56 barrel, 10.5” slr ion lite mlok rail, slr adjustable gas block and tube, cherry bomb muzzle device, magpul ctr stock. Holosun510c and 1/3 cowitness riser plate.

Think all pieces and parts will be in tomorrow.

Already got my form1 tax stamp approved, took like 27 days. Getting lower engraved Tuesday. I paid the $200 for the tax stamp and didn’t go the amnesty freebie route.

This gun will live in the safe under my bed (vline makes a badass storage locker with simplex lock btw) and will live with my trash panda on it for now. But an omega 36m was bought today which will live most of its life in its short configuration on the sbr. I actualy think I’m almost all cases I will just leave it short so as not to have to constantly swap back and forth.

I wanted another 30 cal can so that when I go hunting I don’t have to constantly be moving a suppressor around on guns but I wanted a can that could maybe fill a few more roles than a dedicated 556 can for the sbr or another dedicated 30 cal can ontop of my trashpansa.

this year I plan to get my wife’s hunting rifle setup before next hunting season. She grew up hunting but all 3 siblings shared the same youth model 243 which means she doesn’t actually have a hunting rifle that is hers. I am buying the omega36m for her to be able to use on her hunting rifle while I use the trash panda on mine.

I also have a 35 wheelen that I will get threaded and will direct thread the 36m to it when primitive rifle hunting in MS.

And finally I will use the 36m to scratch my 9mm pistol can itch. I know it’s not great for that but I would have never bought a dedicated 9 can so figure it’s a little bit of a win win.

IK TLDR but I haven’t done much with guns in a while and got it all out of my system at once. I’ll post some pics after I build next week

Leaving an optic on all the time is a relatively new concept for us old guys, and it's handy but hardly mandatory. If there's a bump in night I pick up the weapon, hit a button on the Eotech and ensure it's chambered even though I know it is.
