Little things like properly staking the castle nuts and drilling and pinning the gas block and using an H or H2 buffer and properly torquing the barrel nut or muzzle device, etc, and lock-tighting the handguard screws, are all things that the 'lesser' brands often don't do or home builders skimp on or don't do/know about.
If you own an AR, you should probably know how to do all of that stuff.
I totally get paying a little extra for some peace of mind, I just haven't seen much difference in quality of parts.
I do put the Vltor A5 buffer system on ARs though.

Reading the article the TULA ammo caused them to have to switch to another gun after 500 rds because it became inoperable. One of the guys in our carbine class was running steel case and similar happened to him.
And you know that wouldn’t have occurred with an LMT? They also ran through 10,000 rounds of Federal without a hiccup.

Tula ammo is dirty stuff and ANY brand of AR components can have gas system parts that allow more leakage than they should. Leakage won't stop an AR from cycling in most cases but will allow fouling to build up faster in areas that can cause light primer strikes, extraction problems, and feeding issues. That's why being able to propely characterize BCG components is the #1 factor in reliablility, simply spending more money is not.

FN-contract M4A1 is a sub-$500 gun.
This always chapped my arse. I just want one of those, minus giggle switch.

If you're still looking at DD for some reason you can get the M4V7 with a Geiselle SSA and MBUS Pro for $1620.
LINK
That's a $245 trigger, $115 rear sight, $95 front sight. Plus some rail covers.

Daggum, that’s a pretty good deal. I wonder how they can sell it for that considering the standard cost of one of those without those options.
That Midwest Shooters place I linked earlier has one for $1999 with 10% off this weekend.

I still don't think I could ever spend that much on an AR. $1620 is X95 territory.

FYI, and this might be common, but all the same, I ordered from Family Firearms last week and the lingo was exactly the same on the gun I ordered, and immediately received an email stating that it was not in their stock and they would ship it after they got it.
Hopefully, not a long delay, but their ad was a little less than truthful.

I shot the Seekins Precision SP-10 for the first time today. Holy shite is it amazing.
I just can't let my wife shoot it or she'll take that one for herself as well.

You didn't know ahead of time they're drop shippers?

Family Firearms is Lock ‘n Load based out of Enterprise, AL and Troy, AL. I’ve been to both locations in my lifetime, originally being from Dothan.
Their stores are no bigger than the size of your living room.
ETA: the enterprise location has an indoor gun range of memory serves me correctly.

I live about 15-20 miles from what's supposedly the largest gun store in the world (Adventure Outdoors). Their prices aren't very good though.

can someone explain to me what a "K" can is when talking about suppressors? i assume it's a size, but i don't know any more than that.
Posted on 3/14/23 at 8:01 am to finchmeister08
It's a specific can made by Dead Air.

Yankee Hill makes a K can. Turbo K.

Was so close to pulling the trigger on an LMT Mws-308 recently.
Could have gotten it for about $2500, which is $1000 or more off list price.
But, alas, cooler heads prevailed and I did not get what I like to call the IDR (instant-divorce rifle).
Will probably always regret it, but I did read it is one heavy SOB at about 10lbs w/no attachments, so that makes me feel better becaue I was going to use it mainly as a hunting rifle.
