The forward assist!
No serrations on the bolt carrier. I think I'm going to put an 8" BCM handguard on it.

What's everyone's opinion on stainless mag release/safety
Posted on 7/14/20 at 11:30 am to X123F45
It’s all personal preference (as it’s an esthetic thing), but my OCD arse hates anything stainless on my builds. Even going so far as to ordering melonited gas tubes and ejection port door springs
. Plus the media told me black rifles are scarier.

What?
I don't like the possibility of rust.
I found an entire nickel boron upper since posting this

So at first I was excited I snagged 4 silencer shop form 1 efile slots the second time they released them. I submitted 2 to see how long it takes. Fast forward 45 days and its denied. The ATF decided that nah they dont like this style of submission and denied them all.

Ouch, silencer shop refunding the money?
Posted on 7/14/20 at 4:09 pm to NOLAGT
E file form 1s are pretty easy though from what I’ve seen. Doing it yourself that is

Yea they are refunding the money...I used a visa gift card for the stamps tho and I don't have that card anymore so that will be interesting.
I know the e file form 1 is pretty easy but I have a trust with other parties so it's just much easier for all involved. SS has our pics, prints, info all we had to do was click a few times and done...well...almost done

Unless you live on a beach and the rifle is stored in the garage, rust is a very minor issue.

Inconspicuous kind of guy
But hey that's my choice.
I like NB bolt carriers and trigger groups. Tight to Bear has a good trigger for $40

They've been sitting on my order for four days. Everything is already here.

Hey guys,
got a question. Definitely not meant to insult anyone here.
I picked up an inexpensive (best price available) AR, in 223/556. I don't care about getting the best brand, or the best accuracy. Right now, all I'm interested in, is reliability, and the ability to chew through the cheapest ammo available. I couldn't care less about adding optics etc. I fully understand that steel runs dirtier than brass due to expansion, and I plan on cleaning after shooting.
I guess, coming over from the SKS platform, I'm used to having a gun that just runs.
I've put about 100 rds of Tula through my AR, zero issue.
I've come across a sale today for Tula ammo, $250 a case. This is about $180 less than the best price of brass-cased ammo I can find, and $50 less than what I understood to be a good price for brass before this started. I posted it in another thread, because I thought people might be interested. Got a playful "Tula" reply, which I do understand- hey, I like brass better, too.
But it makes me ask- is the AR platform just not robust enough to run "any ol' ammo"? If I want something dependable for whatever I can scrounge, would AK have been the better platform?

It’ll run just fine and will continue to run.
However, if you fire thousands of rounds of it through the gun it start to wear parts out fast than brass.

Nothing wrong with steel. Just keep the rifle clean and in good working condition.

And it appears PSA is having some issues, because I received one part out of all that was ordered.
That's unfortunate.
That's unfortunate.
