MK12 build
Went with a Criterion barrel instead of a Douglas. I really like the ACE stock. Had a Surefire RC2 so not going the Allen suppressor route as of now.

Does a flash can add to total barrel length?
I know 5.56 needs a minimum of 10.5 inches to fully burn powder and perform correctly.
LINK
The linked upper has an 8.5" barrel with flash can. However, the hand guard is a Lightweight M-Lok 10.5". As you can see the flash can barely sticks out.
Does this accomplish the 10.5" needed or is the flash can irrelevant to barrel length and subsequent performance of the 5.56?
I'm not looking at that specific upper, just a general question that that specific upper illustrates.

Does nothing to add any barrel length which would improve/maximize powder burn

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was thinking, but couldn't find anything definitive after a google search.

How do you like that 4” 9mm barrel?
I’m about to pick up a CMMG 9mm upper and run there ARC mags. Not sure if I want the 4 or 8” version. I know 4 will keep more stuff subsonic but it’s so short lol. Plan to run a omega 9k when it’s free one day...a 45k for now.

What’s the best tool kit for putting together a lower?
Posted on 6/12/19 at 7:46 pm to tke_swamprat
It can be done with various tools. But if you wanna lessen your odds of scratching your receiver, you’ll need some roll pin holders and punches, a castlenut wrench, and a vise block. I really like Magpul’s armorer’s wrench and bev block. Both are built tough and with great fitment, plus they have everything you need to assemble an upper.

Wheeler Pivot pin tool is a game changer.

I like the 4 inch for the fact you stated. Just about any regular pressure round 124 gen or over is sub..

Just ordered a Surefire RC2. Can't wait to see it in a year or so.

I have an RC. I really like mine and almost no point of shift. It's built like a tank. I use the WarComp. I highly recommend as you flash\muzzle device.

This is why I got it. The amount of field testing those get is off the charts. I wanted one where I would never have to worry about reliability.
