Gotcha...I was looking at both but went a5. May try a JP in another gun one day.

Need suggestions for some builds. I've got 5 lowers with Lpks and all I know for sure that I want is a 300 blk pistol. Suggestions?

Willing to do an SBR or anything?
5.56 in SBR or .300 SBR
6.5 Grendel or 6.8 SPC are both really neat and effective rounds.

Don't want to SBR but will sig brace/blade. I've hear good things about those rds but I'm trying to stay with a rd I already have for ammo purposes.

I think that answers your own question then. 5 guns chambered in the rounds you already have

I'm really considering dumping my 8.2" 300blk upper for an 11.5" 5.56 upper. I just don't see myself having a need for 2 calibers at this point. 2 separate calibers just cost too much.

What one are you looking for or just any? When looking for my billet upper I remember seeing places having the regular lowers. Not all models but some.
I would prefer Spikes forged stripped lowers, like some of these:

However, I know where some Anderson stripped lowers are locally.
Just kinda curious what the board thinks of Anderson lowers.
TIA

Built my first with an Anderson lower and upper. Very good for the price. Just recently bought another for my pistol build. Waiting on the parts kit now to assemble it.

16" vs 18" barrel, anyone rather the 18"?
The DDm4v7 16" is 6.2 lbs.
The pro 18" is 7.4 lbs.
I would like the 18" bbl, but worried about the extra weight.

Over 1# seems like a lot of extra weight for 2 inches.

Yeah the 16" stripped barrel is 1.70 lbs vs 18" 2.81 lbs.
Almost 3 lbs for a stripped barrel is HEAVY.

Yeah, I should have included that in the OP. I'm talking more barrel length, hand guard, etc

I just got a faxon big gunner 11.5" barrel....the 18" version is only 1.44lbs.
Pt24 like above the faxon 11.5" I just got is a midlength where usualy they are carbine. No idea how it shoots yet but if you want something different that's it...only mid length 11.5 that I have seen. Also the slr solo ultra lite 11" rail fits really well on a 11.5" barrel IMO. I posted some pics a few pages back.

I agree - I wonder how balanced that weight is? I know there are a lot of Mk12/SPR builds that are based around an 18" barrel. Those dress out at 10 pounds, fully loaded.

Was going to suggest the Faxon Gunner 18". Got one at the bottom of the lake. It's an awesome barrel. Incredibly light and mine is my most accurate AR barrel I had of all my AR's that were lost in the boating accident. .625" gas block is the only negative. A little less choice and a little more expensive.

I went with the slr sentry 6 adj clamp on for my 11.5

Will a high end single stage trigger be substantially better than a cheap drop in kit?
Posted on 8/26/16 at 5:23 pm to jimbeam
Yes it will be better.
However, if you don't use proper fundamentals it won't make you a moa shooter.
I shot for years with a gi trigger. Have shot most of the good triggers and honestly I don't really even notice the trigger unless its to light.

Would is the benefit of the offset mount?
I see so many AR-15's running them.
Why is the light being mounted at 10:30/1:30 better than at 3 or 9?
I see the majority of Surefires mounted on the right side. Is there a reason for that?
I've narrowed my choices down to three options:
1) Inforce WMLx (mounted on left hand side for momentary operation) 400 lumens - $150
2) Streamlight TLR-1 HL (again mounted on left) 800 lumenrs - $140
3) Surefire M600U with SR07 tapeswitch (mounted on right side) 500 lumens - $300
*I'll note that I like some flood with a strong center. I also like the idea of momentary on/off as well as permanent on.
