Del-ton sport. Fwd. assist, dust cover, adjustable stock, etc. I wanted something entry level for my first one and this one has as good reviews as any of the entry stuff.

I just wanted one to play around with to see how serious I was about one before dropping major change on something I'd hardly ever shoot.

Thoughts? Recommendations? Optics/sight?

Thoughts are shoot it and have fun. Sights are irons and have fun. If you want more later, get them. You have to pick a specialty for the rifle to understand what optic to use.

I always hear that suggestion. Are you running the small or large, ambi?

What type of lights are you guys running on your rifles? I'm looking at the inforce wmlx probably at the 12 o'clock. I'm worried that 800 lumens will blind me inside of a structure though. Any suggestions?

I'll just be using it for pigs & the unfortunate bastard that tries to crawl through my window.

Thoughts are don't buy anything for the rifle right now but some magazines and ammo. You don't need anything else for a while. I would stick with iron sights for a while until you see what you would like best (red dot, fixed magnification, or variable magnification).

Congrats on the purchase. You'll love it.

Nothing wrong with (and plenty of fun) shooting through the irons, especially if you're just playing around with it. After awhile you'll decide whether or not you need or want some magnification. If not, there are inexpensive quality red dot options if you decide you want more than just the irons.

I have had several over-sized latch charging handles, and the BCM is by far the best feeling one. I run the mod 4 medium latch on all my rifles but one now.

First thing I do with any AR. Get rid of the A2 grip.

My personal preference for an AR is a low or unmagnified parallax free optic with long eye relief that can be used with both eyes open using the Bidon aiming concept. Lots of optics meet those requirements from cheap to expensive, just pick your price range and research options in that price range. For me my ARs are set up for quickly acquiring a torso or head sized target at ranges less than about 200 yards. I like something that doesn't require a perfect cheek weld to get a good sight picture and get the bullet on target so I can get the rifle to shoulder quicker to start ringing steel.

Buy a Burris Prism and get a free FastFire 3.

Bump... What type of lights are you guys running on your weapons? I'm looking at the inforce wmlx for the price at 800 lumens seems unbeatable. I'm not sure though that 800 lumens wont blind me in a structure? What type of mounting system?

Tlr1 hl. Made for pistols, throw more than enough light for rifles. Have one on my 300blk and ar9.

I have an Eagletac that is 1200 lumens, but I like playing with it too much to mount it.

Same here. I look to BCM for almost everything now. Stock, PG, short VFG, Inforce mount, charging handle. Really quality stuff.

I have to say, even something as basic as a Magpul MOE ($8, American money) - is a huge upgrade in feel, comfort, just all around.

This is the mount

Setup looks exactly like this, except I run mine farther back on the handguard.

My wife text me the other day asking if I was interested in an AR. Her boss is selling his. So I asked her to get the details. It's a 20" Rock river in 556
Not what I want but I would help him sell. It may be a good price since the guy is cluless.

He said he bought the gun for home defense. The sales man told him that 556 will not shoot through the walls. Then the guy said that the 20" length is best for inside. The longer barrel is best for an intruder inside the house.

Sounds to me that the store had this rifle that they could not sell until this guy came in.

This rifle has never been fired, and the guy really does not know anything about it. He just wants to get rid of it. I'm working on a price now from him.
