Hell I'd almost buy one for that price

Yup, just ordered a few stripped upper receivers from AIM for $39.99. I guess I'm gonna go ahead with a 7.62x39 sbr.

Can someone please explain what the reason is to have a short barrel rifle?
You lose velocity and accuracy.

Perfect for close quarters. Give me a SBR over AR for defense purposes or clearing out a house
Posted on 10/2/14 at 9:33 pm to Hu_Flung_Pu
For defense, sure. But this isn't a shotgun vs SBR...its an SBR vs Standard AR15
Posted on 10/2/14 at 9:36 pm to TigerTatorTots
Just say you wanted a different rifle.

b/c its freaking cool
99.99% of people with them will never use them to clear a house, and even still a 14.5" barrel with an adjustable stock is more than adequate for that anyway.
So like I said...its freaking cool

This is why I like the Tavor. Short as most SBRs but with a 16inch barrel. Although without the new Super Sabra trigger pack, the trigger pull is much too heavy.

You even sbr bro?
I carry a 10.5" 5.56 everywhere when out on the property. Light, extremely accurate, and perfect for throwing in the jeep/mule. Great for coyotes, wild dogs, hogs, you name it. And velocity loss is no issue with the proper ammo selection out to about 150-175 yards.
So your statement is tarded.
Eta- every rifle is a tool. We can build/buy what we want to work for any use. As long as you understand the tool's usefulness you will be fine.

Velocity and accuracy are not the driving force behind necessity of a firearm. What's the need for a fullsized pistol? Ruger LCPs shouldn't exist? Everyone need throweth away their derringers!!
SBRs allow for better maneuverability in small spaces. Areas where 1" groups at 100 yards are not necessary. The same area where high velocity at 300' doesn't even matter.
Also, with any round added length eventually begins to return extremely small/marginal gains in velocity. Some rounds perform BETTER out of barrels shorter than 16", or an added 4" only returns 10fps.
