Fyi: If any of you boys are still doing preseason shopping, the same damn mojo dove that's $29 at cabelas is $49 at bass pro. Same case of shotgun shells that was $69 at cabelas is $84 at bp.

I might shoot a few in the yard tomorrow evening and fry em.

Paging Wickowick

Where can I buy cases of 3" #6 .410 shells? Everything I ever see is 2 1/2" #8 which I absolutely do not want.

I dove hunted there last year on property next to the king ranch. The dove we were shooting were roosting on the ranch.

I have shorthairs and mainly woodcock hunt around the Baton Rouge area. I am on a pay dove hunt in North Louisiana this weekend, but can provide you with some hunting behind shorthairs if you are interested when it opens in December. I would love to run the dogs on quail after deer season if you have an interest...

You know, Wick, I've always thought of you as OB family...like a brother really. (Not like a real brother, the way the black people use it...has more meaning that way). Anyway, if you need anyone to drive you down there...you know...I'm around.

Going to Oregon to hunt quail and chuckar in October and trying to swing a Kansas trip on the way back.

That will be a blast...

The drought has hit Kansas very hard. I hunted a couple of years in a row by myself. It was great. There is a thread or two around with a bunch of photos. I skipped last year due to the drought and this year looks worse. If you are driving, look elsewhere, perhaps Montana. Not really sure of the best place because I haven't researched anywhere in the northwest...

Drought hit our bird population hard the last couple of years. The positive is all the rain we have had the last 4 months has been amazing. Last time I was down I saw tons of dove and a few coveys of quail. KR is supposed to be going with me in September and again in November, that's of his sorry arse doesn't bail He's already making excuses for September.

I have seen good reports from most parts of Texas for quail. There have been many reports of multiple hatches. Give those birds the proper weather and they can bounce back quick as long as there are birds initial birds to start laying eggs...

I have a serious predator problem I have to deal with also. I shot a doe last year, and as soon as she hit the dirt I had 5 bobcats eating on her.

OHHHHHH

EEEHHHHMMMMM

GGGGEEEEEE!!!!!!!

It's here, its finally here. I slept like shite last night. At one point mrs Feliciana woke me up swinging because I apparently ha resituated my pillow on her face and was smothering her. No alarm clock for me, up with the sun cleaning my gun ready to enjoy the best opening day of all the seasons IMO. I just hope I don't get to drunk before kick off this evening

Here's to all you upland game bird hunters chasing those little grey mini-steaks on the sky. May your kids get sore shoulders of happiness and may each of you be blessed with a brunette in daisy dukes and tight shirt to retrieve your birds.
