They had everyone shoot first. There were probably 20 folks in front of me. I counted 8 of those 20 couldn’t shoot one stage without their weapon malfunction or inability to reload properly and finish. The instructor had us shoot 12 rounds from 12 feet, 7 and 5. It was a little disturbing . One woman had an old High Standard .22 auto that jammed every other round.

He gave a little 5 minute talk on cleaning your gun and recommended we go out and buy brake cleaner instead of buying that expensive CLP stuff. I was like WTF. I know it discolores polymer and would not use it in my glocks or P320 to save a few bucks.

Never understood the penny pinching on gun cleaners/lube.

Its simple.

Buy a reliable weapon, become safe/proficient with it and keep it clean.

Its not like your life may depend on it right? /sarcasm

non chlorine break cleaner is fine for cleaning but not needed. I use to break it out for machine guns, I don't really use CLP, it kinda does a lot of things OK but does nothing well. It is fine for 99% of applications though.

We don’t need to take a class to renew our license in Florida. But when I went to renew my License it was busy. I was 6th in line and most of them were new . No wonder ammo is hard to find .

Not everyone can be John McClane like me, this is not surprising in the least. Have you not been to a public shooting range recently?

Thats unfortunate. I took a class Saturday, and from 8:30am until 2pm (with the exception of a 45 minute lunch) the instructors went over everything from the different parts of the firearms, both revolvers and semiautos, to all the laws, different holsters for men and women, and multiple situations, and videos. They also oiled our guns for us after we took them apart, or them helping take them apart. It was a great class.

Then we went shoot.

ETA: they also stressed to us the the importance of using the good cleaning and oiling products...

How many malfunctions did you count with revolvers?

Took mine recently.

Not really pertinent to the OP, but it's amazing how every class has at least one Fudd that loves to tell irrelevant stories or be outspoken about every topic. Every time I've taken a class, there's always one dragging shite out unnecessarily.

None but some dude was blasting his .357 mag snub model 66. Some of the ladies on the line didn’t find it funny.

Whats wrong with that? Was it too loud for them? Did they not have hearing protection on?

It didn't bother me. It bothered the older ladies trying to shoot their .22 pistols.

Had a guy like that in my class. The instructor was starting to get aggravated with him. And when he went to shoot, he had some shitty old 22 revolver that he had to reload every 6 shots.

I did mine with a 357 sig and got similar reactions. It is completely obnoxious indoors.

This guy just doesn't stop does he? Is there anything you agree with, other than spending the most money possible on weapons?
What's the meaning of life, all knowing "armsdealer"?

There was a woman in my class who asked a ton of question. She would write them down on a note card to show her husband and he would give her the nod before she asked. After two or three times the instructor told her "you don't have to ask his permission to ask me a question". There was some serious tension in the room after that.
