Any of you guys experienced I&E Techs with Deepwater experience or Production Operators with Sub Sea/Deepwayer experience?

Worked with ROV's from 05' until 11'. After being offshore for 112 days in a row working the BP leak I'd had enough. Plus a lot of my type of work dried up. Plant Operator now. Have been kicking around the idea of looking into an offshore operator position.

I'd settle for a job doing property management/materials ordering at this point.

Hell, I applied for a loader position with SGS while running an auditing firm and doing finance. I just want out of the suit and tie world and into a plant. I'd end up working a lot less hours than I do now and make the same money.

I'd take a 20k a year salary reduction to work 4-10s and actually get to spend time with my family.

Every job I apply for I show up better dressed than the interviewer and asked "why are you here?"

I'm an E&I engineer and have been in the O&G industry for about 4 years. Got laid off in October and have been working part time since then.

EE bachelor's degree from LSU
EIT certification (plan to take PE in the fall)
O&G experience but willing to do construction too if needed
Would prefer not to move since I bought a house only a year ago but understand that might be asking a bit much

TIA if you have any info on openings. Been looking for a long time

I've probably gotten 100 resumes since I first listed the job
75 of those are O&G engineers

I feel for y'all
I'd love to have a PE on staff but we would need civil or structural

I'll review the resumes I got today
little more info

small (6 person) company with large revenues
we do design/build new construction and renovation
everybody does everything from sales/estimating/project mgmt down to taking out the trash and cleaning the office

no debt, lots of cash, steady repeat client base

I would like to cash out within 10 yrs and hand it over
because we are so lean it's gonna be difficult for me to train somebody who isn't already in the commercial construction business

I'm looking for one more experienced Cat6/Fiber technician. One of my top guys is having some health issues and I have brought him into the office, so I need to replace him with an experienced tech. I'd like a 5+ year guy but will settle for the right 3-5 year guy. We just hired a firm to redo all of our benefits and whatnot and pay is in the $40K-$50K range with a take home truck (MVR pending). Also could use a couple more 1-2 year helpers.

This is a great thread. Seeing a few guys post that they have been out of the work force so hope they find something.

All I can say is if you're wanting to make a change or move then do it while you can. I'm miserable but at my age there isn't anything I can do about it

It would be worth it. I don't know if I could ever go back to working 5 days a week.

That's some solid work some of you guys are doing in here. It's nice to see people trying to help out fellow OBers.

I can supply you with CMT/Geotechnical consulting. Not sure if you do enough earthwork. Also some construction QA/QC. I think the firm I am very familiar with is based out of Lafayette.

I have a few engineering leads that may go somewhere right now but I'll definitely keep this in mind. That would be some unique experience for me.

I've definitely been spoiled as well. Did 4-9s+4 at my first gig, then 4-10s at the second, and now I'm doing 4-9s part time. I love having my Fridays. I realize most companies probably won't do that but I'll keep looking until I find one.

My brother has a waterproofing company is Baton Rouge and is looking for someone to show the ropes to since he does all the estimating, management, operations, etc. Only has a secretary.

Told him he needs to get someone out of LSU to assist so he isn't working his tail off all the time if anyone is interested. Business is booming for him right now.

He can teach, but you have to have a grasp on commercial and are willing to learn. I know him well enough to say - no it alls need not apply.
