for people looking for work, have you thought of leaving LA for a short period of time and getting good experience elsewhere then going back?

I tried, but the wife said no. To involved with families and I dont think any amount of money would get her to move. Just look at the jobs in Houston. For what I was looking for, it was almost take your pick. So many opportunities that arent or werent available here at the time.

I've been looking for a job for 11 months now, so apparently I'm doing something wrong. I don't particularly want to leave south LA but I feel like I don't have much of a choice. The TX market has a ton of jobs so I'm starting to look at that route.

i would like to stay in the new orleans area, but i gave up on that a few years ago. now my main focus is staying on the gulf coast. only time will tell how that will play out.

Sucks because all my hobbies and interests are close by, but maybe it's just time for me to nut up and go start over somewhere. somewhere on the coast would be ideal, FL, South Carolina, etc. If not, then maybe Dallas-Ft Worth area. Hell idk

I've got a an associates in Construction Mgmt and a bachelors in Supply Chain Mgmt which is logistics essentially. Ideally I'd like to work in the marine industry, but wouldn't turn down a good opportunity in the construction biz. Outside of a few years of crane and rigging/ heavy haul experience, I'm pretty novice in my experience, therefore ideally I would need someone to be patient with me and train me.

I actually need to hire a Warranty Tech/ Assistant Superintendent in Shreveport. Best residential builder in the country and growing rapidly. Pay is 50k + a monthly bonus of 3-5 hundo that's performance based. Position is open because the last guy is moving into a full time super role.

Hammer you living across the lake or still on Northshore?

Beam you need to hit up rigzone and looking at operators that are in Colorado and other shale plays. I have seen a ton of jobs as of late looking for environment guys dealing specifically with water.

Jim I dont know if you had considered anything or had any leads in NWLA before the oil crash, but with the snap of a finger its damn near booming around here again if you want to check around.
