Yessir, the odd man out in the sea of MD's on the board apparently

I'm with Gleaux. DVM isn't as prestigious as MD but we can sometimes be of use. From white-tail deer to people. I have cut and sutured them all. And worse case scenario if its to bad I can euthanize you.

vet- got a question about tics and deer
we had some of the pine plantation on our lease harvested and the tics are out of control this year.
1 Do you think the harvesting had anything to do with the tic population
2 Is it true the heavy tic infestation on deer will stunt antler growth and fawning success
3 What can I do to lower the tic population in general and more specifically on the deer. Is there a safe drug to mix with the protein I feed that will help prevent the deer from having tics?

No wonder you can afford that Roush kit.

From my experiences ticks are extremely fond of pine straw. Have had several clients that have had major tick infestations from having pine straw replaced around their houses in flower beds.
As for ticks stunting growth, I have never read any published studies that would support this. I know quite a few people who raise whitetail and have never mentioned ticks as a problem. But a severe infestation of any parasite outside normal numbers can affect health and possibly affect growth or fawning.
As for preventing ticks, would have to be a topical which may be difficult in wild deer.

NO WAY for me. Crazy arse bitch doctor has been trying to put me on that for the last couple months. Telling me and my wife that I only have 6 months or less. BS, I say!
Did a right heart cath yesterday and my numbers didn't drop to bad from last July.
