Mine does that 4 cyl/8 cyl switching thing. If I am on flat road and can drive in a way to keep 8 cyl from activating too much, I get pretty good mileage.

Yeah mine has the variable transmission too, but doesn't seem to help it as much as I thought it would. I wonder if one of the programmers on the market has that written into it where it would let it stay in 4cyl more or whenever you had the cruise set...

It's more related to the engine than the trim line. if you got the 5.3 or up you have the 6 speed, 4.8 or v6 and you got the 4 speed. I prefer the 6, some that trailer dont like it, but I tow at least 5k a year and it suits me just fine. Mileage is around 15-19 for either trans, non towing

you basically have to go down hill for this to stay on 4cyl.

Under 65 it stays in 4 a whole lot longer than it does near 70.
