New bull red pole recomendations

Looking for a new fishing pole to sight cast bulls that will be paired with a 4000 stradic. Right now leaning toward a 7 mh st croix avid inshore, but wouldn't mind spending less money. I would prefer an American made rod which narrows my choices. What other rods would y'all suggest with similar specs?

Bass Pro is fixing to have the Spring sale March 10 I believ, I’d hold off a bit if you can. Offshore angler is a good rod for the money, I’ve got one and the ST Croix avid inshore, haven’t used either yet.

Look at Fitzgerald Rod. I use them for for bass and reds in the marsh on baitcast and really like their sensitivity and strength.

Definitely not in a rush. Looking to replace a medium power TFO whose reel seat got stripped after I landed a couple nice reds. Fished with my BIL's avid after, and that's why I was leaning towards the st croix.

80lb braid. Any cheap broomstick and thump on the spool. That’s how you treat big nastys

I'm not soaking cracked crab in a pass
eta: didn't mean to sound so pretentious. I have an old Penn 285 set up just for that. I have a couple buddies with poling skiffs who like to sneak up on them in shallow water and sight cast them, and need a rod that can cast 1/4 oz jigs accurately

We caught bulls after bulls the week of Thanksgiving. I was using a medium all star rod with 20lb fins windtamer on a 2500 or 3000 reel... I forgot which I grabbed. You don't need a anything bigger for reds. I use the stellar elite inshore fishing rods, $99 at bass pro and an over the counter lifetime warranty.

My Falcon Coastal MH has caught many bulls without issue.

Way more fun on lighter gear.

I do still have an American made lowrider, but unfortunately all falcons are made in China now

Once they get above 40" medium rods wear them out to the point they may not recover, especially in the summer heat.

St. Croix MH is perfect. Light enough for sight fishing, but also has strong enough backbone for the big girls. Set your drag accordingly and you'll be fine. Can't go wrong with any St. Croix.

I caught 2 that size the other day with a shimano citica, med action castaway (forget model, maybe inshore)with 12lb test and a 17lb leader. It’s what I use for trout and sight casting in ponds for reds.
You don’t have to have heavy weight stuff to fish them. Especially, if you want to sight fish them. Now, you need to check your line after you catch one. I’ve been fishing them with that type of set up for years.
I use castaway and falcon coastals. My buddy has a ducre that’s nice as well

quote:Have one of these as my popping cork rod. Don’t specifically target bulls but have caught quite a few on it. Nice rod for the price

PSA: I came across sale on Kistler Graphite rods for $99 with promo code "99KISTLER". Gonna try their 3 power "light medium heavy" rod because they don't offer a medium heavy in a spinning rod.

What other rods would y'all suggest
7'6"-8'0" Heavy - X Heavy
Shimano Teramar
or Falcon Coastal
Can double as a Mangove Snapper/Cobia Rod
