I'm trying to find some steel .410 shells so I can take my grandson dove hunting. The WMA close by is having a youth hunt opening day but steel shot is required. Would anyone here happen to know of any place that has some in stock or if you have any on hand could I buy couple boxes? TIA

Are you sure steel is required for dove? I haven't hunted LA in a long time but couldn't find a requirement for dove.

My son has a 410, and all ammo is scarce and I haven't seen steel at all in any of my online searches.

12 pack of beer and a good podnuh and you can fill them from some 12 or 20 ga boxes that will be easier to find.

you dont need steel for doves

No person shall take migratory game birds while possessing shot other than steel or other approved shot. This restriction applies only to ducks, geese, brant, swans and coots.

In that case, OP - you can still find a few decent options on ammoseek...but there isn't a ton out there in 410.

I found some 7 shot yesterday and email today says SORRY.

There is a reason .410 shotshells are hard to find in steel shot.

Doesn't have to be steel, but has to be non-toxic and steel is the cheapest variant available. If you're OT baller rich get him some TSS loads. His success rate will increase.

That must be a Louisiana thing. Steel not required on GA WMA's for dove. So it's not federal.

Mack's Prairie Wings used to sell them. However, you would probably have to buy a case.

I would think that if he is going to hunt dove with a .410, he'll probably need a case.
