In the past Ive been faitly lenient. Ran them off my acreage with a stern warning not to return. Doesnt seem to work anymore with folks I've previously encountered - or with new folks either.
I'm now leaning towards instant arrest, no questions asked and yes, Im in LA and you dont need No Trespassing postings on said land.
Need 2nd opinions, what would yall do?

I would say arrest their butt and press charges. Unless it’s a young kid that needs a lesson, but the next time would be arrested.

My dad and I was squirrel hunting back in the late 80’s and we walked up on a corn pile.
My dad noticed a neighbor in a climbing stand that he’d run off previously so he just started pissing in his corn pile and then told the guy next time I’m gonna make sure you don’t leave these woods.

I'm can't imagine being that big of an A-Hole to continue to trespass on someone else land repeatedly.
When you've confronted them is it face to face or do you just yell at them as they run away?

Buy some cheap baby dolls and clown dolls. Tie them to trees in random spots at eye level throughout your property. They ain’t coming back after the dolls make eye contact. Fun times.

Who the hell was putting corn out in the 80's?

I try face to face - when they arent running away. I'd say its 50/50

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the 1st documented time they are caught by a sheriff's deputy it is just a warning in La. The 2nd time the same person is caught they are charged with trespassing.
So, if you're going to go this route, you need to get the deputy out there the first time you see them.

I just might have to try this.

In GA-
"Unknowingly" trespassing is basic trespass, nobody is getting arrested.
"Knowingly" trespassing, as in posted land and/or prior warning, is criminal trespass and they are getting a car ride.
There are benefits to having the land posted, even if it isn't required. In GA, anyway.

My grandfather was murdered by a trespasser. I was around 2 so I don't remember him.
I catch one, it will not go well.

If you decide to pursue, don't call the sheriff's deptartment, call GW. Much better reults.

Definitely. People these days don't respect laws at all. They won't learn until they have to pay.

I'd have the authorities pick them up and have the parents have to get them. A simple "lesson" is nothing to kids these days.

True story. 25 plus years ago I was hunting a small 85 acre track in Ga that an in-law owned. Only myself and one other guy allowed to hunt it.
While blood-trailing an 8 pt I had arrowed, I came up on his ladder stand and saw why he had been seeing so many deer…. 100 lbs plus cornpile 50 yds from his stand.
Mind you, baiting was illegal in Ga back then and we had agreed not to do it on that tract ever.
I got a case of the arse and went over and pissed all over his yellow acorns. This was Tuesday morning.
Wed afternoon SOB killed a 17 pt 153” ( green score) as it munched on the pile
( Insert face palm emoji )

Bow season and I had my 12 gauge casually pointing in the right direction
We had homemade corn feeders using PVC pipe with a 90 degree bend at the bottom about 1-2 foot off the ground fastened to a tree. Fill it up, scatter corn on ground under and around.
