I hunt public land. Found a spot this summer. Hung a stand on the first day you could legally hang a stand. Have been hunting in here since opening day (9/26). Have a camera out 10 yards from my stand. Came in this afternoon to find a ladder stand has been hung 40 yards from my stand. Checked camera, have 2 pics of the guy from 2 hours ago looking at my stand and camera so I know he knows I’m already hunting this spot

What would the OB do?

Update: he left his phone number on his stand so I called him last night. Super nice guy. He said he only plans to hunt it during firearm season which is short on public land in Arkansas. Told him I’d hunt elsewhere during those days. He said he’d stay out of there during the week so I could hunt it.

Yeah I’ve never had an issue with it, knock on wood. This isn’t my primary spot. It’s a small public tract right down the road from my house. Have an old climber that I use out here. Mainly hunt here on bad weather days or when I just want to get out of the house. Still has good deer on it though

He was there when you weren’t. Just because your stand is there doesn’t mean no one else can hunt there for the entire season

It's not ur primary spot or ur spot even. What, nobody is supposed to hunt there because one day you might want to use it.

Move my stand and his to other backup locations. Continue hunting spot from climber.

Post the pics of the guy.

/sarcasm.

All the points have been hit. It isn't "yours". If he wanted he could have put his stand on top of yours.

Be willing to share or move on.

easy access to GPS tech (onx especially) have made the world a lot smaller. If it looks like a good spot on a map, somebody else will be in there.

Hunt there only on weekdays. If you go on the weekend, bring an extra honey bun for him.

Nothing much you can do other than having a backup spot. Hunt it, and if the other guy is there move to your backup spot.

Part of the game when it comes to hunting public land. The best "advice" I can offer is to embrace it. It's good practice for dealing with a-holes in every day life anyway.

The other hunter is like the Burger King site selection guy. "There's a McDonald's across the street, so this spot looks good."
