Ignore any answer that isn't Hustler. They have been rated as the best mower for the money for a few years now. The Raptor SD is nice for a home owner but the Fastrack is what I would recommend. It's meant for residential but can even be used for light commercial use.

ETA: I have the Fastrack SD 48". Paid $6200 for it in April.

Gravely mowers are heavy as shite. They weight like 250- 300 pounds more than comparable mowers from other manufacturers. I got one stuck once and almost never got it out.

All that additional weight doesn't mean it is built better either.

So excel made an exact copy of the Raptor series and rebranded it?

Gautreaux's on Burnside.
I'm only buying machinery from someone who works on what they sale. Too many frustrations dealing with warranty and maintenance issues at big box stores. The authorized repair centers have an attitude when you bring it in for repairs because you didn't buy from them to start with.

Well, I'm going gravely... I asked and the spindles and even in the hustler models I looked at had to be replaced not just the bearings...didn't get to see the big dog..

is that the briggs motor? There's a guy here that owns two different stores, hustler store and gravely i believe. He said without a doubt he'd recommend hustler every time and he sells the damn gravelies.
