I second the JBL speaker. Its what I use in my boat, and I love it.
I'd also suggest one of those rechargeable jump starters for trucks or boats (if your boat has electric crank), or one of those solar phone/electronic device chargers.

Does the boat have a Bimini Top? I just bought one for our boat. Wife loves it and they are on sale @ Empire Covers for around $250.

Second the Bluetooth speaker (a good one).
Lithium Bubba blade knife if he's fishing a good bit.
Maybe an onboard charger if he doesn't have one already.

EPIRB or PLB depending on how remote of an area you’re fishing.

I think what he would be most impressed with is if I learned how to back up/park the truck with the trailer on it at the launch.
It seems intimidating, but a couple of random empty parking lots and an hour of practice and you'd have it.
Grab the bottom of the steering wheel and move your hand to the side of the truck you want the boat to go. Small corrections. Tips to back a trailer

That JLB tube speaker thing that was posted is a really great gift for someone who likes music. One of my friends has one and its awesome. Itll get super loud. I really like the built in sound system in my boat but I like to stray away from gifts which require work to install and holes to be cut and stuff like that.
If he isn't a music guy, maybe a new curado reel, or a new set of tackle bags, or a new prop if he doesn't have a stainless steel one already

T-top. So can’t do the Bimini.

We actually have that exact JBL speaker. We use it in the backyard, but now after y’all mentioned it, we’re taking it on the boat too.
Regarding the parking practice, I’m just going to have to suck it up and let him teach me in a parking lot while I ignore every natural instinct that I have in trying to direct the trailer.
We do fish, but not as much as we would like. Lake P is hard to figure out. We’ve tried the train trestles in the Dell before, but it was really windy and didn’t have much luck. The boat isn’t big enough to bring to Venice, and I wouldn’t do it even if it was. If we’re going down there, we’ll get a charter.
All of the safety item suggestions are good ideas. We have a small kit, but it’s not near enough. We stay inshore, but I know shite can happen anywhere. It broke down on us once, but my husband got it running before the tow could show up. That’s the last time we took it out before we put it in the shop. Water in the fuel line or some shite.
All of these suggestions are A++. Thanks!!!!!

Ego S2 slider is the best net ever. You can get some pretty nice attachments like the boat hook and gaf that come in super handy.

My raptor shallow water anchor is the best money outside of bob’s hydraulic Jackplate that I have ever spent for a boat.
Can’t believe I ever lived without either
All of that said, get the speaker as neither of the first two are really viable to give as a gift
