quit calling it a bike. its a quad unless you are talking about buying a dirt bike with 2 wheels

Quit being a douche.

I texted a guy on Craigslist that was selling a sport quad. I asked him "How much are you looking to get out of your bike? How good of shape is it in?"
He responded "Its an ATV not a bike. Etc etc."
It was a great price. I never responded though bc of how gay his response was.

How do they not kill many deer on 900 acres? That's big enough to hold some deer. Also, if they are clear cutting it, it will probably have its best hunting ever in a year or two.

Finally on the "bike" debate. I clicked on this thread to see if you were discussing what type of mountain bike to pedal around looking for deer, or maybe you were going to get a 10 speed to spotlight with along the highway.

This is where I'm leaning...a Mule. He has the 610(?) but recommended the next one up (720?).

I can go back and hunt there whenever I want. All I have to do is call him and tell him I'm coming. Only thing is, it's not a camp-type setting. I usually get a hotel room in town then wake up early and meet him at the gate to go hunt. Still a good time though.

Hermitcrab
You say tomayto (I know, it's spelled wrong)
I say tomoto.
I've noticed alot of makers call them RTV's. I'll go with that from now on..........with your approval of course.

Ole Geauxt
Is the Polaris an RTV? I'm not looking for an ATV. I'm assuming it is. If that's the case, we can swap emails and see what you've got to offer.

Gonna go check out the Honda's now. Didn't know they made an RTV, quad, bike.... Thx guys.

Slinger1317
That Kubota looks very nice. This is what I was thinking of when I said "hunting bike". Gonna give those some serious consideration and do more research. Thx.

To the rest:
My buddy only invites four or five friends up to hunt a year. He never charges anything. But the problem is, it's family land. His brother doesn't want deer hunting on his "share" of it, nor does his sister. So that complicates things. And those two have been trying to make it harder and harder for my buddy to invite friends up to hunt "their" land. So it's turning into something that I don't want to get in the middle of. I just as soon join somewhere that has all of the things that a lease offers...your own stand that no one else hunts, a camp/lodge/gathering area, cleaning stations, cabins, etc, etc.

Hope that clears it up. I more than appreciate all of the advice. Just need to get my butt down to some of the dealerships and pick one. Thanks again guys

I don't know if I will ever buy another Honda. Last Honda I had was a CR250. And just like any other outdoor Honda ever made, it was reliable as all get out, but also slow as hell. I can see why people swear by them. But no innovation gets old to me.
I'd reccomend the the Polaris and the Kawasaki. Polaris Razr if you want speed. And Kawasaki if you want a nice/fast camp 4x4. Can-Am makes some sweet ones too now but they run you as much as some new cars.

Yankees call 4-wheelers "quads"

I used to hunt with a bunch of rednecks between Oil City and Vivian that called them "buggies." I still think it's funny.

Oh and btw... You can't go wrong with a Honda Foreman.

we have a Kubota (dont know if its a 500 or 900) and an Arctic Cat..never had any problems with either. The Kubota is a beast but has this odd auto-brake when you let off the accelerator that i dont care for.

we have a polaris ranger, and for lack of a better word, i call it a buggy

my son calls it a jeep though, its got a full cab and its about the size of a damn jeep

we used to call 4-wheelers bikes also, but to me, 4-wheelers and UTV's are different and deserve different monikers

There's several options out there...I guess a good question is are you looking to go with brand new or used? If used there's PLENTY of Yamaha Rhinos out there on the market. They come/came in a 450cc engine or a 660cc engine which was later updated to 700cc and EFI. They're decent all around machines that will do pretty much whatever you ask it to. And I can assume you it'll be quicker and more comfortable than a Mule. A brief rundown on Side by Sides.

Honda Big Red-680cc engine. Selectable 2/4wd and (gasp) front diff lock on a Honda. They have the Hondamatic tranny which shifts kinda like a car does. They're more geared towards a work only machine. They're big, roomy, wide, but wont fit down most trails that a normal ATV uses.

Yamaha Rhino- See the first paragraph

Kawisaki Teryx- 750cc V Twin makes great power, full auto CVT transmision, selectable 2/4wd and diff lock. Kinda a good cross between work and play. Dont let people scare you...the people that say dont buy a CVT usually dont know shite about ATVs(or bikes, or quads, or buggies, or 4 wheelers or whatever the frick else you want to call them). The intake/exhaust for a CVT transmision is usually in the cab behind the seats...odds are if you got the belt in the tranny wet you'd have to be in water about 3' deep or leave the drain plug out. CVTs are fine, theyve been used in snowmobiles for AGES. Kawisaki also has the Mule lineup...these are basically no thrills work horses.

Can Am just released they're first SxS ever with the 1000cc Commander. Its another decent cross between work and play. The motor is a BEAST but expect to pay ~$16k for one.

Polaris realistically has the most diverse SxS lineup out there. I believe at one time they had 18 different models available INCLUDING a full electic 4x4 model. They've got every corner of the market covered from mild work horses to the just released Polaris RZR XP that features an 88hp engine and trailing arm rear suspension with 14" of travel . The thing is a minature baja buggy.

I know :csb: and :imnotreadingthatshit:

Cliff notes: Pick one, buy it, maintain it well and be happy. Fact is EVERY major ATV manufacture out ther is producing high quality, very reliable products. So dont buy into the whole "Buy a Honda" garbage. 10-15 years ago this was true, but not anymore. Find one in your price range that fits your needs.
