Had a bunch of nice pine slabs like what I used and gave them to a buddy. I'm suppose to go pick up a few pine logs Monday. I will be having more slabs then. Will need about 6 months to dry out. If you need them, let me know.

Got out early this morning and started the two benches that are needed for the table. Finished up around 2pm. Took all that I had in me.

Many beers and I am still hurting but finished this project.

Oh, daughter was super surprised.

Why thanks. Dam shame that SIL is a master carpenter that I told him to take all the lumber that is needed. But on his side, starting a new Biz and putting 60+ hours a week, I understand.

SIL and daughter started finishing out the table. Stained to what they wanted and second coat of spar varnish. Told me they will put 6 coats.

fish, no problems with the spar being tacky? I've always found it tacky when dried. I probably would have used poly

Myself, I never had that problem. I'm sure he didn't.

Did you stir the hell out of it before using? Never shake.

Looking to make a jewelry box case that attaches to the back of a stand up mirror that the wife saw. Where would I find the felt lining and cushions for the jewelry box (spot for rings, etc)? Would Michael's carry that type of stuff?

No. The real live edge when stain turns darker as you can see in the picture. Doing what you saying will not.

Walmart sells felt.

Looks good. If you enjoy wood work, Invest in a jointer. 6" is all you need. Picked up a very old HF for $75. Dang thing is well over 250 lbs. Does a outstanding job as you can see on the table I built.

Fish, that table is gorgeous. The staining really shows off the grain. Very nice.

A tip for all woodworks. Lumber that one buys at stores. Anything over 2' long and you trying to join them together, you going to have a space in between. A jointer and planner is your answer to true up a board. You stat by truing one edge, pass it thru the planner, check the true edge again. This will give you two true sides. Just use the planner to finish it all true.

A jointer is on my list for sure. With the boards across the top being old ship lap we were going for the kind of uneven look.

Built the trestles today and will mount top to bottom at my customer's house.
