Made a quick run to Utah for an antelope hunt. Hopped off the plane at 4:30 in the afternoon and had this one on the ground a few hours later.

We spotted this one and another nice buck in an alfalfa patch. Got in close and knew this one had a lot of mass.

Got the gun up and let off one of the more embarrassing misses in my hunting career (Reticle set at 400 yards, shot distance was only 40 and I sailed the shot right over his back).

Circled back on them after they fled and made good on the second chance.

Pretty buck. I'm hoping to get one in Wyoming next year.

Private land? How’s the meat on those? Pretty gamey?

I was never into speed goat hunting, but the relative ease has me very interested in it as a public land hunting trip for my father and I.

OTC tag on private property. Trespass fees.

Antelope meat is pretty divisive. Best suited to ground or jerky IMHO. Can be very gamey and has a distinct odor to it.

Lots of easy tags in Eastern Wyoming.

Beautiful pronghorn. That's some impressive width and mass.

I tasted a buddy's pronghorn meat last year, and it was delicious and not gamey at all. He said proper field-care and dry aging is the secret.

You're a real man to admit a miss on anonymous message board, I might have been tempted to omit that. Sounds like fun. How many days had you planned to be there? What will you do for the rest of the trip?

Nice buck, it's better than anything I've taken in Wy.

For those looking for tags in Wy, some areas you can buy OTC if the unit did not sell out. I know there are some areas south of Devil's Tower and I-90 that can be had. Look at Onx and there is a lot of BLM land there free to hunt. Some of it you'll have to get permission to cross property lines.

I’m staying until Sunday. Tomorrow is opening day of the rifle bull elk season and I wanna see what rolls into camp. Plus it’s a good opportunity to hang out with friends.

WY no longer does OTC for Antelope with the second draw
