Yep, NASCAR is no more. Once they turned there back on the fans that made it what it had become, they paid the price. You no longer hear "Bristol, the hardest ticket of any sport to get".

Jr is a Karen.

You are right about that, BUT his personality alone kept the sport somewhat alive after Sr died.
Him and his step mother drove the development of the COT and the crap racing that came with it since then.

Think it was more of who his dad was than anything.

I pretty much lost all interest when Gordon retired. Before that I never missed a race on tv. And I went to probably 20 or so races at 7 different tracks.

I’ve tried to watch races since but with all of the changes and all of the new drivers I’m like you. I just can’t get into it anymore.

development of the COT

The fact that drivers were not allowed to criticize the COT pretty much said it all about Noosecar. Several drivers called it a brick on wheels and got fined for it.

Everyone is pretty much running the exact same equipment, and car, which to me SUCKS ! The stage racing sucks, the luck dog rule sucks, the entire format sucks when compared to what it used to be.

I was done when they quit racing modified production cars, with production engines. Cars you would recognize on the street and could identify with. A Chevy car would have a Chevy engine, etc.. Teams had to really innovate to get horsepower out of those engines, and make the cars handle.

That was the end for a lot of people. I remember when they wanted to add the aero rear window to the Monte Carlo, but they couldn't race it unless they sold X number of production units, so they started selling them.

And when Rick Hendrick took over. It got to be which one of his teams was going to win this week.
Why tv networks keep showing this crap is beyond me.

I was done when they started forgetting about the fans that supported them and helped them become what it was. These days, they have left the real true race fans in the dust, and they don’t give a shite if they lose the 40-70 year old fans. They want the new blood. That’s why they are pushing the new market tracks and equal cars. Not to mention taking flags away and featuring a driver every week who runs mid pack at best.

Never really been into watching people turning left and driving in a circle for 500 miles

Been to a couple of NASCAR races at Texas Motor Speedway. I loved the smell of the combusted gas and I loved to just fix my sight across the track as the cars passed my view. Unbelievable how fast those cars are going. And I went to TMS early on before it was reconfigured. The cars didn't make it through the second lap because of the pileup on turn 2. There were many wrecks that day.
Once the old stars turned over to the young guns, I didn't know who to follow. I watch a race or two a year now.

That was the rule back then. You had to sell X units, or have them available to sell, to race it.
That's why only about 1700 Super Birds were built.

And whoever said he did 175 on a short track, I'm calling bullshite.
