I have a few rounds I can send with the gun. If you have her interest now, and want to keep it and get her shooting don't wait...

What kind is it? I can't have her shoot anything ugly.

22, using clay targets, outside with eye and excessive ear protection.

It needs to be fun.

Bring a female with you that likes to shoot so she and your wife can shoot

Show her how the gun works at home with it empty. Show her how to handle the gun safely, give her a copy of the firearms rules, and then step away. DO NOT TRY TO CORRECT YOUR WIFES STANCE, GRIP, OR OTHER MECHANICS. Let someone else do that.

You started her out shooting a pocket .380? That isn't a great choice for a first time shooter. Short sight radius makes it hard to shoot and the recoil is hard to control.

he hasn't listened to a damned line of bapple's outline.

I can't let you borrow the Colt Woodsman match target pistol so it would have to be the .22 revolver...

My GF likes to shoot but she is still partially afraid the gun is going to blow up in her hand.

Also, try having her shoot a gun with less recoil. The GF likes shooting the 45 over the pocket 380.

My wife loves to shoot...that said, one round through my LCR in .38+P and she put it down on the bench and simply said, "nope." She loves her Bably Eagle II in .40S&W. It's basically an all steel CZ75 clone that is made in Israel. Heavy + balanced = easy to shoot.

Full size 9mm would probably be a better choice. Or a .38 revolver.

my wife cried at the thought of guns, until I took her shooting.

Started my gf on a .22 Marlin rifle shooting at coke cans. Graduated to clay targets with a .410 (she actually hit the first one she shot at, then not a single one after that lol). Next time we went out, she shot a .22 revolver and was pretty much hooked. I'll let her try the 1911 .45 this weekend. The point being, baby steps. Make sure you teach her how to handle every gun safely while it's empty at home to instill a little bit of initial confidence.

This should have been before the 380. Work your way up to that. The 380 is after the 9/45 imo

Have her shoot the biggest .22 pistol you can find.

She shot a .40 and hates it too. It's full size.

Sounds like a good reason to buy one

She thinks she would be more comfortable shooting outside. Which seems ridiculous to me.

I hate shooting at inside ranges

I wouldn't force it at all. But you could go the other route and just bludgeon her with gun this gun that, and desensitize her.

She's done nothing but prove how smart she is by BEING fearful and respectful of them. Tell her that her emotional response is a bit much because her car is -SO- much more dangerous and she doesn't give it a second thought :)

Good luck with all that!
