Full size 9mm. My 10 year old shoots my SR9c. And he is little for a 10yo.

I would hate to shoot indoors. Hopefully I'll never have to.

For any first time shooter, start them out with a .22. I agree a rifle is preferable since they are quieter than a pistol.

Let them get good and comfortable with it before starting them on anything else.

Then I would work up to a .22 pistol. After that, a full size 9mm. Maybe a .40 S&W. Later on, if she wants, you can consider a larger caliber like .357 or .45 ACP.

If you're trying to share your hobby with your girl, you will do this, otherwise she is never going to enjoy the sport.
