This. Plus, you're kinda baiting the dog. You kill my dog in this situation and I promise you will lose all your chickens, any dogs you have and maybe your house. Never know who you're f$%kn with
we can never have nice things.
Seriously WTF? Your frickup and you want to blame him????God Bless America.

If you bill them for mileage, they'll know it's you, rather than just suspecting it's you!

A country guy would be like,"I'm sorry you had to shoot my dog for killing your chickens."
I think you are mistaking a country guy for a douchey guy
I grew up in the country and wouldn't shoot a PUPPY b/c it killed a CHICKEN, but I would ask for compensation(since most country folk are pretty understanding). Then I would try an resolve the situation in a civil manner.
If it was a stray dog, call animal control.
Since its the neighbors dog, go talk to them again until the issue is resolved. Tell them they will need to pay for any chickens killed. Handle it like an adult.

Why can't we?
You don't kill a puppy over a $3 chicken.

Killed his dog. Yes kill it. A chicken?

It's not about the chicken. It's about responsibility and principle. Something a few people on here obviously do not have.

My neighbors chickens come into my yard under the fence. I do not pay her when my dogs kill them

We're just f$%king with ya'.

If it becomes a habitual thing, then yes you may have to take it for a ride or put a bullet it in.
But for now a red Ryder or a good kick to the snout would probably suffice.

Turn your BMC loose on his arse.

This is where it gets sticky. There are leash laws, pretty sure...but most of my neighbors (including me) do not keep our dogs leashed or fenced up. My dog will go into the neighbors yard (the furthest is two houses down) only because the neighbors like my dog and play with her. I have my neighbors dog come into my yard and we do the same. I'm worried if I call the pound, that would change. We live in a neighborhood, but it's really spread out. (we all have about 1/2 acre)

She sits by the coop protecting the two remaining chickens. But she didn't see the dog kill one of them. Weird.

Red Ryder or rock salt or something.
I wouldn't kill somebody's dog behind a chicken.
Johnny cash stomped his own dogs head in the ground for killin chickens, so it's up to you. You can legally kill it if its harassing livestock. As far as correlating killin chickens with attacking kids, that's a stretch. Dogs hate chickens.

In the old days a dog that killed a chicken was a dead SOB.
I don't like chickens enough to kill a dog for it unless its some wild arse stray thing.
Or a pit bull

Urban(or would it be rural?) legend. He was just trying to build up his street(dirt road?) cred.

Didn't you say the owner offered to pay for the chicken and you refused said payment?
