Letting everyone know the current timeline of CCP approval.
I filled out the online application on July 24th. Went to LSP headquarters and got fingerprinted and paid the fees on July 29th. Received the permit in the mail today.

Best way to do it! Did it the same way a couple years ago when I got mine and it took a total of 12 days.

Nice. Living in Buncombe County, NC (Asheville) means a 6 month protracted shitshow. Got mine years ago but my wife has been 'in the queue' for 6 months. Because of covid she had to make a reservation to get her prints done. It was a 2 month wait just to get fingerprinted lol.

frick this stupid place.

Was this for a renewal or a new permit?

LSP has recently temporarily (hopefully) changed the requirements for applicants and has a requirement for notarized forms. Supposedly there was a security breach and the online application was not secure enough. So they've had to tighten it up and in the mean time are requiring notarized forms.

Did you have to deal with this? One of my students last week told me about it and it really surprised me.

Here in Tennessee even if you do life time there’s still a 5 year background check,,,, is it the same in Cajun country?

It was for a new permit.

And my concealed class instructor was aware of the need to notarize some of the documents. So I had that done before I submitted the online application, and at the end of the online submittal you are instructed to scan and upload the documents.

The notary I went to had a 'package deal' for like $40 for CC. I thought it was going to be more of a pain in the arse than it was, but it was fairly quick.

From what I was told when transferring from an FFL, was if you go the 5 year route, background check is waived.

Is the notary thing new? I don’t recall having anything notarized. I have to renew mine early in 2021

What's the status on license renewals? I assumed most people that offered classes around BR had suspended services during all this. Mine is expiring in December but wasn't sure if LSP was going to grant a grace period.

That’s still unbelievably cost prohibitive to exercise a constitutional right. So it’s $100-$150 for a class, $125 for the permit ($175 if you haven’t been a resident for 15 years), plus $40 for notarized forms, and it totals to around $250-$300 to carry a handgun with a piece of fabric covering it. That’s a bit ridiculous considering LA is one of the most gun-friendly states in the country.

To anyone curious, the supposed timeline on fixing the electronic application to remove the need for the notary is sometime this month. Once they work out some security details the notary won’t be needed.

There was a grace period through some of the summer but it’s over now. Send me a message. Bigapple828@aim.com

It's got to be. I applied in December and there was nothing I had notarized.

Got my permit today, 9 days earlier than expected.
The permit expires in 2028? I was under the impression that it was only a 5 year deal.

In Louisiana? I think the only options are 5 years and life unless they changed that, too.
