prayers sent brother ... my 80-year-old Marine Corps dad is also nearing the end. I too will be in your shoes in the not so distant future. My dad beat throat cancer but the chemo and radiation have left his life miserable. Told us he's tired and not sure how much more he can take. Only thing keeping him half-way motivated are his grandkids playing sports and my daughter had a baby in August making him a great-grandpaw. We send him 5-6 pictures and videos a day which makes him happy. RIP Mr Dwayne

Sorry for your loss.

My dad passed away over 7 years ago and I can honestly say in certain aspects, it does get easier. But you'll still want to pick up that phone and call him when certain things happen. The first year was tough in that aspect. He was so excited to finally have a grandson after having 3 granddaughters and didnt make it to see his 1st birthday. That was hard.

Lean on your family and your kids. Remember the good things and think about how proud he would be when you having exciting things happen going forward.

I’d like to tell you it gets better, but I honestly believe a piece of me died with him.

My dad died when I was 14 and it's the same no matter the age, imo.
