Bobcat or Kubota?

I’ve had good service with my Kubota equipment. I plan to buy a SVL 75-3 in the next few weeks. My dealer is top notch. That’s an important part of an equipment purchase.

My FIL bought a SVL 75-3 last fall and has proceeded to beat the shite out of it with no issues. He got the high flow package but for whatever reason it didn’t come with the feature to reverse fan direction to clear the radiator screen of debris. As long as you ensure it comes with that I’d call it a reliable machine. The 75-2 did have overheating issues due to different radiator position but it has prettymuch been resolved with the 3.

We have 1 Kubota SVL-95HF and 2 SVL-97HF machines and we love them. Oldest one is about 7 years old.

Heaping piles of them in my area. Reputable contractors tend to buy or lease reliable equipment while also being affordable. The number of Takeuchi skid steers and excavators I see in my area suggests to me that they fit both bills. Two things are certain - if you are going to buy a Kubota you gonna have the cadillac of equipment and its going to be priced like a caddy....

I think Kubota skidsteers are 20k less than a comparable Takeuchi model

I am a Kubota guy, but Takeuchi is what I would get if I was buying a skid steer. Although, those new JLB ones with the single extend/retract arm like a telehandler look pretty cool.

We’ve really been happy with our Kubota 75-3 high-flow. I don’t have a ton of seat time in other brands to make a direct comparison, but this machine has treated us well.
That said, one thing I’d definitely recommend. No matter what brand you’re considering is to go with something that has a dealer presence near you. Having parts and service close by makes a huge difference. It’s a hassle to haul equipment long distances just for maintenance or repairs.

I’ve heard and read good things about the Tak. They don’t have much of a dealer presence in my area though.

I know a CAT mechanic that says these are the best and the best to work on too.

Get a Cat 255. It truly is the best machine on the market and the ride alone separates it from the pack. Kubota is a good machine but is more of the no frills basic machine. Cat will cost more but resale is better and surprisingly parts are often cheaper. Cat is a Cadillac, Kubota is a Dodge and Takeuchi is a Hyundai. I have been a Cat rep for 9 years and have seen and operated them all in side by side demos with engineers

If you want parts availablity bobcat and it isn’t even close. Kubota if you wanna save on some money but won’t be as rugged/reliable as a bobcat. As with anything you eat what you pay for. John Deere makes a hell of a machine too. My customers seem to rather the Deere machines. All units have their pros and cons. The operator plays a HUGE roll in the machine and its reliability
